apparently there was already a report for Teddy getting the fixed 6x sights
WTF would it not have the same zoom as the CR3 TD though? It is the exact same system. I was never on the Dev server, I was away on holiday but did it at least have the correct zoom there?
i mean yeah it should, im genuinely surprised that Teddy didn’t get the zoom nerfed when the update dropped but im fully expecting it to happen at some point, maybe the next major?
The challenger 2 was absolutely designed using cad and doesn’t predate it at all.
If zoom should be nerfed or not depends on if they use day or night channels.
the issue is less that and more that the Ajax and Teddy need to be the same, with the report for Ajax being accepted and the fixed 6x zoom applied, they either need to bring Teddy in line with that or revert the Ajax sights (assuming Teddy is correct)
I wouldn’t put much stock in to that tweet. They’ve just gotten an AI chatbot to read a bunch of parliamentary transcript on CR3 and summarise proceedings for them.
The bot doesn’t understand MoD jargon so tries to figure out its meaning by seeing where the same phrases are repeated in its LLM, and ends up deciding to read the Challenger 3 proceedings through the lens of the Nimrod MRA.4 reports because the algorithm says in the same sphere of defence news; those are the texts that are most commonly accessed and cited articles that use the same terminology, and therefore considers them be the most authoritative on what everything means.
The phrases they highlight to draw parallels with Nimrod such as “securing necessary materials” and “mitigating risk” are extremely common in project management. There’s nothing in the parliamentary texts that directly implies those risks are anything to do with how the hulls were manufactured, but it was a substantial problem with the Nimrods, and the source of most expense.
Risks are primarily going to be economic in nature - inflation, suppliers going out of business, refocussing the defence budget, etc. etc. hence the focus on “securing necessary materials” while they are within budget and available. The next biggest risk is the physical condition of the hull plates (cracks etc.) which is something that was de-risked by extensive inspection

Well not quite right, chally 130 is a german project.
It never touched british soil either.
Made to advertise the 130mm cannon to germany in the competition vs nexter.
Challenger is just fatter then leos, that it was easier for them to modifiy

After they were done with that Rheinmetall germany as a standalone project borrowed the challenger with permissuon to conduct their own weapon tests for germany and the capability, to mount it on moveable platforms.
Brits had no hand in the chally 130 besides loaning the platform honestly.
Ehh arguable, armor is mock up. And many brits do hate on the chally 130.

Well this is mildly infuriating.
Germany have other choices for a larger gun platform on an mbt, Britain do not.
Even Sweden could get the up gunned leopard.
