they should definitely buff the challengers, the 2e is now gonna be just worse than the new ausbrams theyre adding. the only redeeming factor it had before was the turret protection was better than the abrams and the fact that it could sometimes shoot back after a penetration from the lack of a turret basket. both of which are powercrept by the new abrams which not only has better turret protection than all the challengers now, but also just better in every other aspect.
the 3td sucks ass, i actually find myself doing better in the TES than it. the blacknight has its aps niche which is a useful utility. there is no reason to use the challenger 2e once they add the abrams its crazy. even the m1a1 is better than the 3td. if they at least gave it some more spall liners and the anti k5 capability on the l27a1 or maybe even buffed the armor beyond an extra like what? 50mm on the mantlet on the dev server right now? maybe then it could still be decent. right now theres literally just no reason to grind any of the challenger 2’s
Is a shame it has no addon armour bits.
it would be so cool if they gave it a dozer or addon armor because then itd be a pretty nice defensive vehicle that could be hard to lift out of a spot
the aps is nice for sure against lmurs and apfsds on some maps but thats about it, its just a normal challenger otherwise
I just like the wide challys, wasn’t really thinking on actual use of the thing. It just could then fit in my wide chally line up
speaking of wide challys, im pretty sure the tes side armor is just straight up wrong. when you shoot at it with 30mm the entire block shouldnt fall off. half of the block is ERA the other half of it is a NERA i think? which should stay on even. i find it silly that the whole block falls off after you spray it with 30mm for a little bit
I have complained about it falling off for a long period, yes.
they should really give the challengers the rest of their spall liners, has there been any update on this? @Morvran
Nope. Nothing.
Didn’t you hear? Non-existent turret baskets are more needed than spall liner for a minor nation (just don’t tell Smin, he’ll tell you that the copy-paste bombers that are a decade out of date are proof Gaijin cares about Britain)
Indeed, however we haven’t been able to see the two blocks separated.
With the tweak to ERA side armour on Russian tanks, now struggling to disable them through the side from 200m with 40mm. Now that Gaijin have demonstrated they are comfortable with this level of side armour, Chally 2 should be brought up to parity with documentation.
and the Trunnion pin has been removed.

I guess that report needs to be reopened
Are they doing this on purpose or are they just incompetent?
both I’m sure.
Literally every positive change that Gaijin have made on the Challengers in the dev servers in the past, has been reverted after people get happy about it. It’s no surprise that this is no different. First it was the ERA buff that we lost. Then the armour buff. Now this.
Its a bit of a middle finger to you guys who try to give as many sorces as possible to make the game historically acurate and take time out of your day to do gaijns job for them. But relik era gets a buff based if vibes 🤔
Russia > Evidence
Any other nation < Evidence
I saw the fox profile picture and thought it was Alvis infiltrating the Challenger forum to say nothing is wrong. Thank goodness you bring light to the fox profile picture.
A lot of Russian stuff underperforms documentation. Just have the numbers to scream at the devs when they find the most favourable resource available. Said numbers also mean unfavourable reports don’t tend to be actioned particularly fast on account of the revenue the tree generates.
Still has plenty of stuff underperforming known metrics, like poor Mig 29 😿
Same situation with the yanks, it’s a revenue generating tree with the numbers to cry most of the time. Armour issues notwithstanding, given there are armour issues amongst Russian rubbish as well.
For clarity; not defending the practice. But the explanation lines up with what I’m seeing, they do what they can to keep those trees from revolting, and the bare minimum for the rest of us.
