Challenger 2 MBT - Technical data and Discussion (Part 2)

The armour and engine is also incorrect on the chief.

I think it would be meta if every fix was implemented. It would need proper regen steering though. The breech is fix number 1 for me, you could do the turret wiggle if it was narrower and actually be hull down. It would be OP as a sniper and with regen steering it could reposition much faster, also the armour packs being better would stop it being killed as much by auto cannons.

I don’t really like ground anymore though anyway to be honest, in a game dedicated to apparent realism there is virtually nothing realistic about it. You shouldn’t be able to hear tanks around corners because your own engine would be so loud and your commanders machine gun shouldn’t telekinetically rotate on the top of every tank. If you want to use your binoculars or roof machine gun you should have to open hatches and expose the crew. I wish there was a way of simulating damaged viewports and visibility also. I feel like realism is all or nothing really.

Im on the fence whether it would be meta, purely because the need to cap bases and the CQB maps just will neve suit it all that well.

But it could certainly be an excellent support tank that wasnt just a waste of space on any team

CQB focus is another reason why I don’t like ground anymore. In general it just sucks and really is just trying to listen for engines around every corner. I think the game is really showing its problems as tanks have become totally second to aircraft now anyway in terms of CAS. IMO they should pivot and really flesh out the sim mode for tanks, start it with really detailed modelling of a few top tier ones and go from there, also bring back historical battles. I think they could fix a lot of problems by making the aircraft harder to use, take away things like the radar UI from sim and force people to use the cockpit displays.

Yeah, this would be good, and I am the same. I jsut dont enjoy what ground has become

From an air sim main, wont be that big of a nerf, if it changes anything at all

Some say that if any Gaijin dev ever dares buff a British vehicle (particularly a modern one) - they will spontaneously combust out of the matter/anti-matter or buff/nerf paradox. Or something like that.

I mean it would make sense.

‘Where’s Pavel today?’
‘Oh - he tried to give the Challenger 2 regen steering. All we found were his smoking shoes.’
‘Is that what happened to Oleg?’
‘Yep - he actually read the pilots notes and proposed making the Scimitar’s rudder actually work. That’s why the 2nd floor is being redecorated.’

…you heard it here first folks.

Yes lmao the Scimitar is really hard to control because of that. Also the Chieftain is missing armour and HP due to its engine being incorrect. All the Harrier 1s have almost a whole 10 seconds added to their turn times in game. The 9.7 harriers would dominate their BR brackets if modeled correctly.

I’ve noticed the ch2 OES is a pack on the gaijin store when it’s normally a GE vehicle and still is in game.

Wtf 🤣

Regen steering would buff every modern tank
Like the reload rate buffs

Yes the CR2 would turn faster but it would also make the Leopards and T-90s like go karts!

While it would buff all the tanks technically, tanks like challenger 2 and chieftain would benefit far more. Abrams, leopard and T series tanks recover quickly from slight turns and get the speed back quite fast under the current system due to their acceleration, challenger and chieftain dump a lot more speed in slight turns and take ages to get back up to top speed. If they could carry the momentum it would help them get on an even playing field in manoeuvres.

Leopards and T90s are already like go karts, they wouldn’t feel the same boost from it Challenger would.

There is no reason for the Challenger 2 to still have its awful 4 round ready rack, the 24 ready rack is both more realistic and would be better for balance

Its crazy they haven’t changed it yet

Gijjin dont care. If it aint russian forget it.

Yeah i thought that but didnt wanna claim.it incase i was wrong tbh.

There are so many unanswered bug reports on the british mbts.now adays its ridiculous.
And pathetic to be quite frank, the l15a5 round for example why is it not in game, why does l23 exist in game when it has been proven countless times to have never existed

I was just checking the TES armour package and got curious about the kinetic performance of the little area of spaced armour under the side ERA
it performs exactly the same against APDSFS as the 30CM thick ERA just above it, and only 300mm worse against ATGMs
Meanwhile the actual website for the people who MADE the exact ERA on the TES state “Highest weight efficiency to defeat Shaped Charge (SC) and Kinetic Energy (KE) threats.”

A good few people chinned gaijin about the ERA and made insanely well formulated bug reports that were shot down with almost no backup source for gaijin.

They were and are categorically wrong about so much on the challanger 2 series of tanks yet wont back down.

I direct you upwards and morvrans piece.

If you read all this, hes not even kidding at all about any of it, which is the sad part, the cr2s are statistically speaking the worst top tier mbt.
And generally verging on unplayable and im not kidding

Gaijin do not model NERA correctly :(

Even after it’s been explained to them, in excruciating detail, how wrong they are they still don’t listen. It’s like they’re allergic to admitting they’re wrong.

The percieved issue arise when NERA is modelled correctly yes it would greatly buff the CR2, Arriete. Leclerc and IFVS stupid enough to use the blocks.

It would also dramatically increase the protection of NATO tanks the Leopard 2 and M1 to “game breaking” levels. In Gaijins eyes crapping on a few smaller nations is worth it to maintain big 3(4) parity.

That is the only reason I can see for not having a complete NERA rework.

Well that’s what the BR system is supposed to be for, as flawed as it is. It is certainly no excuse for artificially nerfing an entire class of protection.
