Challenger 2 MBT - Technical data and Discussion (Part 2)

Not as bad as expected

I still think that BN is an amazing pick for battles on large maps.
The feeling when a poor T-90M sees a Cr.2 standing in an open field and thinks that it is his legitimate frag, but IF makes its own adjustments)

P.s. The current status of IF gives us serious concerns about units with Afghanit APS, as the speed of threats is stated to be up to 2000 m/s
P.s.2 greetings comrade in several thousand fights on BN =)

i still enjoy the black night but its just not as fun anymore

It seems to me that the biggest blow was dealt to the 3TD, which had a local feature to survive a hull penetration without detonation. Now there is still no detonation, but the tank has lost the ability to respond.
In second place is the 2E, due to its BR and the lack of APS and additional armor that protects against some sources of damage

It seems that in the current circumstances, no version of Cr.3 will be a step forward for the tech tree

I find the BN is lots of fun on big maps and mostly worthy of 12.7 however when you play on tighter maps especially within city streets it’s barely better than the base 11.7 challenger 2.

I like the 2E but have no idea why it’s at 12.7

The 3TD is just sad and the redeeming feature for me is the timed shell for destroying scout drones.

Yeah, and unfortunately, most of the maps are those where its 11.7 and not 12.7 (though tbh, it probably should be 12.3 even on those maps)

Still waiting for a scan mod for the PASEO scope Т_Т

Obviously, the in-game models aren’t combat-ready versions.
The Russian and US ones come combat-ready with all the necessary “accessories” because those two nations are constantly at war.
Instead: the BN is based on a demonstrator unit without add-on armor; the 2E is an export prototype lacking certain sensitive British technologies, including the add-on armor; and the 3TD… well, we know the story there. Unfortunately, Gaijin refuses to grasp this distinction, and there’s nothing you can do about it.

And I’m leaving out the missing spall liners and the gun mantlet, simply because I consider them bugs.

same thing happened to my typhoon.
idk it seems that I enjoy struggling with bad vehicles than a the good ones.

Using American sights on a challenger when challenger sights exist 😬😬😬

This is insane. We need this for Challenger 2 but British. Hope this works on new abrams in UK tree. Best crew voice mod I have seen.

Since all the optics on the BN demonstrator have been replaced, I don’t consider the original Challenger sights to be suitable.

Ideally, maybe you should use the sight from here, but I personally prefer the cross in the center of sight and the green colour

My bad.

It still uses TOGS II. A nice simple circle with a dot. Nice and simple.

It does not use TOGS II. The position is the same, but internals were replaced.

Same, on old classiс Cr.2 with TOGS

But subjectively, as long as we don’t have a fully functioning FKS in the game, pixel hunting with what I have on BN has proven to be slightly more effective (at least for me)

TOGS II is specifically the thermal system, won’t the reticle be a different part of the FCS, seeing as its still present in the regular sight?

Not quite C2, But i noticed on the new C3 production variant that it seems to have a MUCH thicker front on the turret, the ERA on the side seems to end where the Old turret ended on the C2.

Looks like 4-5 inches more Composite on the C3.

YEAH, that turret is 100% WAY beefed up from the C2.

Gaijin:

So the turret cheeks can be easily penned you say?

“no evidence of internal composite, must be hollow with structural steel elements”
