Challenger 2 MBT - Technical data and Discussion (Part 2)

We get something good about once a year.

That’s fair, if all the additions, even if numerous, do not overlap with your main parts of the game, then it can be as such.

But at that point it’s more about you and less about the British tech trees theirselves.

Gotta say. Not a fan of these. At all. They’re unrealistic for starters but also if I want to do my damn landing roll I should be allowed to. Additionally because adding the wires required the airbases being treated as “carriers”, it disables the automatic drogue chute feature entirely!

Yeah, arrestor hook should be entirely optional. I dont mind it if I need it due to damage, but just being expected to always use it is dumb

Wait what?

Yeah. Land on an airbase with wires and miss the wires, your chute won’t deploy unless you do it manually.

Thats rather stupid. Hopefully that is just a bug

Nothing burger for me too.

Reasons

  1. Nothing positive added to any of the nations I play (I don’t consider a copy paste Abrams a positive addition just identity stripping and laziness)

  2. A lot of negatives with additional modules and mechanics that punish me as a player in the mode and nations I play (mitl) vehicle modules

  3. A feeling of hopelessness watching the same nation get more soft buffs with their exclusion from module deployment compared to other nations and their “protection improvements” (disconnected ammo belts and the relikt buff is a big one)
included in this despair is denial of anti era tips, their turret baskets and module rollouts

  4. on modules why are these not being rolled equally across all nations at the same time so every vehicle remains on an equal footing?) The module idea is great however considering how poor and under represented the protection is on western mbt’s additional weaknesses being added with no consideration to improving vehicle protection to even out these weaknesses is an overall negative while one nation in particular remains excluded from these changes while inherently gaining an unequal advantage

  5. Over representation of expensive premium’s rather than tech tree vehicles, with the only new vehicles being literal copies of existing vehicles within a tree

  6. The unbelievable requirements to get any western vehicle improvements or fixes - The effort going in to some of these reports is impressive many other games could use the depth and detail of these reports to model an entire vehicle in minute detail from publicly sourced information but ultimately most end up flagged as “not enough info”, “marketting lies”, “or missing information” - then asking to provide further info with an unspoken expectaion to provide potential secret documents which many people do not have acces to and i doubt even gaijin have access to either, which then leads me to if gaijin are reliant on public information, well they can share what sources they have available to them which the average person doesn’t because they are unclassified right and available publicly to everyone.

This includes sources from archives, libraries, non digitised books, museums and so on all places you can find information which is public and unclassified but more than likely not as widely circulated as something you can buy off amazon.

Or do you just have a guy known as backdoor boris in every country providing sekrit information for sources.

This might be slightly offtopic but still relevant to the topic and probably just a vent I don’t main anything i play across multiple nations and i have favorite vehicles in all trees, I’m primarily a ground player i find air meaningless and unenjoyable (i get my air fix in other games which have inherently more depth and involvement)

Ultimately the game no longer feels right or fair and i’m beginning to question the reasons why i choose to spend so much time here.

You get shown evidence, that whould be enough, but you still wiggle every wich way to ignore it. It is literally the “clear marketing lie” or “Stinger can’t be better than Igla” all over again. This sort of burden of proof is reserved only for NATO equipment, hence my accusation.

As in proper gaijin fashion, great idea, poorly implemented.

What’s to be happy about they’re nerfing britains most iconic MBT when it’s alreayd poor enough.

a T80U being shot in the UFP with L27A1 is not even a lie xD it’s been happening for the past few years too.
But genuinely a document from the bloody British army is a lie but if it’s for the 2S38 which isn’t even known to fire APFSDS just a brochure stating it can, they give it to it.

It’s a damn AA gun not a light tank, yet it’s still marked as a light.

etc etc, I udnno i’ve grownt tired of this. most cold war BRs , with iconic MBts from the 60s - 80s before the main line ones come in like abrams etc, are all but forgotten about, leopards, chieftains, amx30s, OF40s etc. they’ve had reports open for many, many years and just get ignored.

It’s hit a point where we every patch, lose more and more of our bug reporters. As they see it as completely pointless and a waste of time, as was mentioned above, gaijin will literally move the goalpost or just say “it’s a lie” when it’s quite clearly not.

So yeah mate, it’s pretty cut and dried it’s not an unfounded accusation, it’s also one the community as a whole are coming to notice this patch

ive given up on the challengers mostly on the odd occasion i do play anymore im jumping straight in the cheiftain mk5

the chieftain mk5 which also is missing it’s L15A5, missing its LRF, has barely any specification from gaijin as to what it is.

I love chieftains man, but I cannot be bothered with the game when there’s stuff like the type 74 at a lower BR xD
My Type 74 red star has
APDS, HESH, HEATFS, a LRF, More mobility, more effective armour as it’s smaller. and of course the super handy suspension.

8.3. a BR step lower but better in almost every single way.
The Chieftain MK5 slingign L15A3 is also stupid as hell.

yeah i just ignore it or atleast try to and either way i can perform quite well in the cheiftain either way i think

The update is overall a win for the UK

Especially the 75mm APHE addition and new Aussie Abrams.

Two areas of the game Britain struggles in, mid tier and top tier, should become a lot more capable.

That doesn’t change the fact the L27 report being rejected is completely unreasonable, but overall it is still a win for Britain this update.

“You need Abram to be top tier capable” - brought me to tears

Anything but fixing Challenger 2.
T-90? Sure
Aussie Abrams? Go ahead.
Leopard 2A4M? Nah mate but we’ll have the preorder be Royal Canadian because uh. German Kaiserreich obviously.

Well

Is it really surprising the Challenger 2 designed in the 1980s can’t keep up with tanks like the SEP V.3, T90M ARENA and Leo 2A7V from 2017-2025?

The CR2 should be better, but anyone who thinks it will always be able to keep up with more and more modern vehicles as they’re added may need to rethink that idea. We have the Challenger 3 for that, but that is yet to be added to the game.
