Challenger 2 MBT - Technical data and Discussion (Part 2)

pretty sure similar things have happened before. its just a repeated cycle of “oh you are happy? that’s a shame.”

My favourite is the gun mantlet being in the incorrect place after they did the rework and still being in this sorry state after funnily enough 3 years.

if they remove the pins, the BARE MINIMUM they can do is make something up to go inside the bloody holes; because right now those being there makes no sense, and them being filled made more sense considering the bits that are missing. Not only is it a weak spot from a combat point of view, its a weak point structurally afaik, giving other things around it sheering points.

I was thinking the same thing… I highly doubt you’re getting 700mm of 0 deg game pen IRL with that rod. Nothing short of magic could make that happen.

How do they manage to fuck up something thats already fixed!

Spite. I swear its out of spite. We cant even have something good. It didn’t even make it to the live server where we could enjoy it FOR FIVE MINUITES before they decided it was too much.

Isn’t the Challenger 3 TD a prototype/in the future vehicle beyond 2020?

If I remember Challenger 3 (TD) is actually Challenger 2 (ATD) which would mean its technically 2019? However I may be wrong.

Its Challenger 2 ATD (DSEI 2019)

AKA Challenger 2 LEP Rheinmetall

Challenger 3 was not a designation until 2021 i believe, and the first True Challenger 3 prototype was 2023 i think?

not technically, is

The Challenger 3TD is a (Gaijin) Marketing lie

but like, unironically

Good thing the chally got the furry basket, now if volumetric screws with the spalling it’ll still take out the horizontal drive!

They are gonna see those are K1 blocks and give it 5mm extra armor.

So gaijin does another ahistorical nerf to a British vehicle

While giving Russian tanks an ahistorical buff… again

For context, in the same patch as the CR2 nerf they also almost entirely reverted the BMPT’s gun accuracy nerf. It’s now basically the same as it was before.

Just an absolute joke of a company

I mean it’s still wunderwaffe yes? Because the mantlet shouldn’t be filled in as it’s a tech demonstrator yes? And if they add the Chally 3 production that would be what, a 2028 vehicle? I’m fine with it as long as they model things right, and balance properly I could care less about date atp.

Its not even been reversed

Its been fucked truely

It has the external pins, and not where the Pins are on the inside

Thats just completely illogical

this is what i mean- isnt that in theory a structural weakspot now?

With my limited MS paint skills, this is basically what they have done. the red lines are now weak spots in the metal, or shear points.

This makes more sense, however Gaijin wont accept it.

Edit: I apologize how absurdly terrible my MS paint skills are, I’m no painter.

what is the point any more the devs have no intention to fix the CR2

The russian 10.3/10.7 lineup has even made those brs unplayable for me. The 292 i hate with pure rage.

okay. ((i cant believe its come to this))

I just spent about 10 minutes in blender meshing up what the trunnion SHOULD look like… I don’t understand how its so difficult for Gaijin to understand this…

This is what we have currently… as you can see there are great gaping holes where the trunnion pins should go. It’s crucial that they are there, as they are what the trunnion pins go into and the whole gun pivot’s on those pins.

This is what is missing. Two large pins that sit inside the trunnion that allow it to pivot on them. These act as pivot point and would increase the armour in the areas where the holes are.

So finally this is what it should look like when complete. The pins sit in those holes, allowing the trunnion to rotate on them.

My 3d modeling skills aint the best but, please, please sort this out.

Many reports have been thrown at gaijin about this, many that reenforce this design.

The fact that the only way CR2 will actually get a buff is if the devs make a mistake screams volumes.

Crumbs - we couldn’t have a vehicle with it’s actual armour being released could we? Unless it’s Russian - in which case they certainly will - and even in many cases add an extra 100mm or so hidden armour just to make doubly sure (cough- IS-6 -cough).

I have words that would describe the devs - but they are fruity and I’ll probably get banhammered. Let’s just settle for saying I think they’re the biggest bunch of unfathomably insert whatever words one deems to be appropriate I’ve ever had the misfortune to come across.
