Challenger 2 MBT - Technical data and Discussion (Part 2)

My main concern for CH3 is what sights they give it, it’s bad enough having fixed 6x on Ajax on an actual tank it will be worse.

I believe EPSOM is NERA - look how thin the modules are.

EPSOM is the modular stuff fitted across the turret and frontal hull. Farham is the composition of the ‘base’ armour.- Chobham family but the next stage on from Dorchester.

The CR3TD and Ajax should largely have the same optics iirc. I think its just Gaijin being obtuse

CR3 will have the 6x fixed

it will only change if gaijin change their rules for sight modelling, where it could potentially go from 1x - 24x zoom, but that requires unity sights, and 4x digital zoom on the 6x optical zoom

are the same

Gaijin just gave 3TD the Chally 2E sights as placeholder, there is an accepted report on its sights

Even if we get that, it won’t be the best in game. It’ll be harder to deal with, which means they’ll just put it up in BR and give other nations DU/more modern rounds. Which would make life even harder for the Chally (especially with the hull ammo).

that’s only if they give it DM63/73 which have the propellant that’s hard to detonate upon hitting it/spalling it. Otherwise that hull ammo will still be a problem.

Also, just gonna ask? Has ANYONE found any solid proof of the challenger 2s composite LFP armor? |

Ive seen a few places mention it, But never solid evidence. (which is not like it would help)

But of ALL the MBTs in this game i really feels like the Chieftains and Challengers both get SO SHAFTED.

The Chieftains get needlessly nerfed and moved up in BR, while having shells that have MULTIPLE TIMES been proven to be Historically inaccurate to the point where L15A3 can barely pen a T-62 at range, the Challenger 1s are stuck in the 10.3-11.3 Russian steam roll hell hole.

The C2s just do not perform as well as they should at all. We are talking about a tank with 1200hp that Handles worse than a Tiger 2 that weighs more, and has half the HP.

Idk if the Chally 1 should be beating down at 9.3-9.7. That would be a nightmare. Now should someone tanks from 9.3 to 10.7 get different shells? Yes! To make the Chally viable.

Didn’t the US build one of the biggest land armies on paper out of Russian tanks just for a bombing range? They must live in a completely different world than everyone in the rest of the world. It wouldn’t be hard to simulate at all.

Almost cut the head off the pin. The area the “pin head” occupies is reserved for a second mantlet mount manifold that presses into the cavities to hold the pins in place. It’s essentially a solid block made of two press-fit puzzle pieces. Then the mantlet bolts on top of that. The pins only slide into the turret cheeks as far as the cavity milled out between the barrel and the trunnions left and right pinholes. TO assemble, slide the pins in from the sides, place in the turret, slide the pins into the turret cheeks, bolt on the second manifold which has milled blocks to now occupy the space where the pins where to stop them from sliding out, then bolt the mantlet.

If you followed that it essentially means the whole trunnion is essentially a solid block of metal made of interlocking puzzle pieces. And yes there are 3 pieces to the complex all solid. So giving it 2 trunnions is in fact the correct model.
