As far as I know the Challenger 2 LEP and 3 use the Thales Orion commander sight (same as the AJAX), which in several sources including the European Military Defence magazine 2020 states it has automatic target tracking
I think theres a decent chance the 3TD could get it
No, these vehicles have automatic tracking (think sosna on the russian ones). Literally lock onto the target and automatic target solution.
Irl it’s for engaging tanks at long range. For the challenger (and Leclerc) in particular, the commander is supposed to be able to queue up targets, and the gunner can basically swap through them. I don’t know why they’d bother adding it just for helis, particularly when some of the vehicles getting it have no shell to make use of the feature.
Hunter-killer is just being able to cue the gunner to the commander’s aiming point.
However, even on BN, automatic target tracking will sometimes allow you to successfully shoot down helicopters, as this system currently does not trigger LWR on helicopters on DEV
IIRC Ammunition explosions and Fires are always an RNG thing, so rarely ammunition can just be destroyed without catastrophic side effects, (going the other way a tickle can sometimes set ammo off)
Insane stroke of luck, we should push to to have Russian charges (or atleast the values and not the visual model) so we can survive all shots to ammo like old T-Series were before autoloader
They never survived all shots to the ammo.
File dives at the time proved that they had the same.rng as all other ammo.
The issue was you shoot russian tanks in the ammo, specifically the BVM is what everyone moaned about. When it didn’t detonate you got screwed.
Unlike say a 2a6 where you can click generally anywhere on the hull and you’d wipe most the crew.
