Challenger 2 MBT - Technical data and Discussion (Part 2)

I mean ofc that is without debate at all, im sure I shouldn’t have to clarify that xD

I mean, we got Cold War Hungarian stuff in Italy, so getting WW2 Dutch stuff in Germany isn’t that crazy

If BeNeLux wasn’t in France then yeah but because of how lazy Gaijin is they’ll just give everyone C&P vehicles

The 1500HP engine does make sense given the 2E. It makes sense to include that in the planned domestic versions. Just a shame it was scrapped (for now) for the CR3

It was not MTU, but the 9A from HAAIP

I think that regardless of whether Bae or Rhm won, both would have received the same HAAIP upgrades, so even if BN had ran for longer we’d have had the same speculation and discussion around engine power as we’ve had for the CR3 and its TD?

The CR3 is going to have the 1500hp without doubt. If you go looking for a specific thing that says yes it will or no it won’t, you likely won’t find anything but the CR3 upgrade is just taking the hull from the recently upgraded CR2s and giving them a new turret and slight hull change. The BN (or Black Knight idk) would probably been the same type of upgrade

Yes, the HAAIP is a separate program from LEP/3, if BN were to continue it would have receive the HAAIP, and no 3 will exist without HAAIP. When it comes to HAAIP output, all I’ll say is we wait for official data.

On another note iirc BN is still complete, so it might get the 9a along the rest of Cr2, but it knight be reverted to a standard Cr2 in the process.

I made a bug report for the Chally 2 side hull spall liners.

The evidence is quite limited, but solid. The photos have already been used to report the LFP spall liner but I didnt see a dedicated one for the side spall liners which are also visible in the photos.

These only show the side next to the drivers position, but I couldn’t find any other photos.

Even if gaijin just models those spall liners instead of the full side spall liners it would be an improvement.

If someone has already reported this then my bad, but theres no harm done in having a second report.

On a seperate report (not my one above!), the bug reporting manager says there are internal CR2 spall liner reports.

Hopefully that means the tank will be getting some additional liners eventually.

Perhaps can be added alongside the Challenger 4

Yeah, when humanity gets to the technology level of the improved Dark Star and when humans become peaceful, intelligent creatures

even that is optimistic

I know but I need hope

I grinded entire Germany/Japan/GB tech trees my conclusion
They are slow, they fire worst top tier shell, their armour is bad, ammo placement and stowage is also worst
Random homeless HSTV-L or 2S38 can do drive by and one shot it frontally lol
Only good thing about them is thermals and thats it
At this point I dont believe Devs will fix anything. Just lower their BRs like
Challenger 2E 12.0 or 11.7
Challenger 2 BN 11.7
Challenger 3 TD 11.3 even 11.0
Challenger 2 Family (2F, TES, OES) 11.0

They are not better than Type 90s, M1A1/IPM, ZTZ99/MBT-2000, or even Merkava Mk3s

How many bug reports are there of the Challenger 2s that have been open for years and not fixed? My last count is 97 but there is probably even more by now

11.0 for the Challenger 2 family and Challenger 3? Really?

Saying the Challenger 2 should be 0.3 BR above the Challenger 1 MK.3 while having a better round, way better armour, better thermals, better mobility (slightly), spall liners etc… is just ridiculous

If the Challenger 1 MK.3 is already a very capable 10.7 (which it is), then the Challenger 2’s would be extremely overpowered at 11.0.

Moving them down to some ridiculous BR will not fix their main issues which are mobility and ammo storage, you will still get shot in the side and die just as many times if you do not learn how to actually play the tank.

I’m all for getting the Challenger 2’s getting buffed and BR’s adjusted, but this is just a bit ridiculous and seems like a culmination of the “Challenger 2s are completely useless” mentality that so many people have here, which just isn’t true.

11.0 is too low but that’s the cross over between the CR1 and CR2 they are very similar tanks just one has better thermals and one has a massive weak spot above it’s breach in TOGS.

At their current BRs CR2s are a rough experience and only fans or people bored of stomping everyone with a Leopard 2A7 gravitate to the slower gameplay style as a palate cleanser

The Challenger 2 is a significant upgrade over the Challenger 1. The CR2 may have bigger weak spots, but above around 11.0 the entire Challenger 1 is a weakspot as its armour is only at maximum 500mm effective against KE.

I personally do not find the Challenger 2’s to be “bad”, the 11.7 British lineup is pretty good and the 2E and Black Night are capable 12.0s

What needs to happen is the Leopard 2A7V and other very strong tanks needs to go to 12.3 or 12.7, the Challengers don’t really need to go down

In relation to other 11.7 and 12.0s it probably should be that low, or at least that far apart, but likewise should be higher than some 11.0 and you are right, it’s not 0.3 better the CR1.

What is needed is the CR2s to drop 0.3 and for some 12.0s and 11.7s to be increased by 0.3 instead
