Challenger 2 MBT - Technical data and Discussion (Part 1)

I’ve got plenty of weird obscure pictures of the left side near the loader, but the right? No images… hahaha

Would this merit a report?

does anyone else find it weird how NATO ERA like on the challenger 2 TES is huge, yet has the same or worse protection values as the tiny ERA on Russian vehicles?

there’s probably a good reason it just seems strange

what do you want to report?

Sorry, not picking this up. This topic was rolled so many times its pointless to talk about it

You can try, if you want. And both mk3 and DS, they use the same bins in game

CR1 I think. CR2 has different shaped ammo stowage

I found a document about upgrading the Challenger 1 in the National Archives. It gives some interesting protection figures, particularly for the “lower glacis”. Presumably it carries across for CR2 as well.

Wait, you went there today again?

I was there a few days ago

Ah i see. Your a madman, you know?

I’m guessing the gun/breech being too far forward has been reported before? The photos I’m looking at have his seat roughly in line with the breech but in-game he’s sitting further back

Not sure if Lower Glacis actually would mean lower glacis in this context considering it’s basically listing the Cr1’s upper hull protection. That said it definitely proves an upgrade was made for the MK2/MK3’s hulls for the gulf war?
But if it does mean actual lower glacis will be BIG if true. Does it contain anything else?

the storage bins could certanly take a beating

there is a lot of detail in this sad report

It is certainly strange wording.

Well, they survived a explosion of 4 iirc charges, one in the barrel and 3 on the floor

Damn you getting all the juicy bits from the archives. Found anything else recently?

Are the hull side values for perpendicular impacts?

Either way can be used for a buff for the hull front and sides, great find!
