Here’s a good rendering of the CR2 Mantlet

Grey/Black = Armoured
White = Hollow
Yellow = Cables
Green = Fixing pins

Here is my very simple MS paint render of what I think the inside of the mantlet could look like based on the photos and the position of the fixing pins

The bottom part is hollow to contain the electronics, with a hole through the armour for the machinegun

The rest could potentially contain armour, indicated by the location of the fixing pins seen in the photos on twitter

We also see from the photo that only one side of the mantlet has cables extending from it towards the gun, so the mantlet on the other side of the gun may not be hollow at all at the bottom

either way, Mantlet cheeks still wrong.

better2

Now that I look at that more I see an error.

I don’t know why you lend any credence to the opinion pieces of youtubers. Youtubers are very rarely a reliable source of anything.

Yes I was poking fun.

Looks like it was hit by the version of the lancet drone with the heat warhead. And the armour stopped it which is really good but i wonder how much RHA a lancet drone with a heat warhead can pen ??

hes just the typical “there are 3 main attributes to tanks” guy like most, if thats how you look at a weapons system as complex as a tank you have no idea how military’s work

i would assume its a kornet warhead (just comparing to a switchblade type) so probs 1000RHA ish pen

Looks to me like a challenger 2 has indeed been destroyed. You can tell by the styling of the thermal sleeve and gun calibration laser on the muzzle, also looks like its togs sight under the branches at the back.

Lancet drone hit it, can’t officially say if it has been totally destroyed but it definitely looks like it.

why is there only a picture of the gun, where the hull and turret. With all the “we destroyed 20 patriots and a himars on the 3rd floor” and the like i’d rather see the actual tank not potentially a replacement barrel that’s transport got hit. i would assume the tank itself would be close by but only the gun?

Good point. But I think I can see the turret metal under the branches and the togs sight is definitely there

thats a bit of a stretch. If i have learnt anything from this war its that one side (rhymes with Usha) is all about disinformation and spinning a narrative (make other countries supporters think twice) so until i see the actual hull/turret i wont believe it and if i see the hull fine its true but in this case showing a video with shitty quality with quick cuts and a barrel, yeah im not going to hold my breath when its something that takes 2 seconds to prove with 0 doubts

also the CR2 turret is huge, what you see here is small enough to be obscured by a branch and the angles are wrong for the under the composite for the turret. Again im not trying to be a “reee CR2 is invincible” person it isnt but this is just to fishy. a video that cuts out right as the lancet hits, a picture of a barrel but not the actual tank. all it would take is 10 more seconds of video that WOULD have been recorded and for the person taking this picture to take a pic of the burnt out tank within 50m of this barrel

true yeah, it is fishy. I don’t know why they couldn’t just move the damn branches or take a closer picture. The size of the turret may be caused by the FOV and it being angled back, the branch seems to be leaning off to the side across the turret armour. I’m gonna call it though I see a TOGS 2 sight there so in my opinion it is a CR2 with its turret blown off. Will more than happily accept people telling me I was wrong.
