the thing is haynes mentiones a similar for challenger 1, but then also mentions it has a spall liner. So it might be possible that both are seperate

Note this is for Chally 1 but here they are referring to Asbestos as “splash curtains” that doesn’t sound like insulation

These “splash curtains” also appear on Chally 2 and also cover the mantlet only. I don’t think it’s referring to spall liner.

I mean it’s possible they both have a flexible mantlet cover. But I haven’t seen anything to suggest all round coverage on CR1/chieftain.
