CCRP not working with F4

Hello. First of all, I’m not sure if I’m posting this in the right place—if not, I apologize.

I’m trying to perform bombing using CCRP with F4, but while I can do it in Arcade and Realistic modes, I can’t seem to do it in Simulator mode. It says “bomb release permission,” but the bomb is not released.

I’m doing exactly the same things in Simulator mode as I do in Arcade and Realistic modes, but the bomb still won’t drop. My speed and all other parameters are normal, as they should be.

What could be causing this issue? You can find the controls I’m using attached. Please check them and let me know what I might be doing wrong.

Thank you in advance for your help.

When i use CCRP, the only time i get a “bomb release permission” is when im not lined up with the target point and try to drop the bomb (either before i reach it or passed it).

Make sure you’re lineup up to the target point and hold down the release button.

can you post a video trying to bomb with sim controls? (test flight will be fine).
It’ll help in finding out the problem.

What map?

Some maps like Afghanistan, many of the bases are bugged and no matter what you do, CCRP wont work

The other possibility is that you arent perfectly aligned with the target, many of the F-4s lack usable CCRP interfaces for SB, so are you visually aligned with the target?

what? first time im hearing this…

It wont work as in it wont drop the bombs or the bombs wont hit, elaborate

It just doesnt drop any bombs. Doesnt matter if setup correctly, and aligned perfectly, the bombing computer just wont release any bombs.Afghanistan is the worst offender, I think it might be due to the alt. But I think iirc, there are a few bases on spain that cna bug out too

Schindibee has a bug report up for it

from the looks of the bug report, it seems the issue is the offset of the mission target point selector from the actual location of bases which causes ccrp to be bugged out.

Normal ccrp should work fine on these maps if you put a target point on the base instead

It might, its been a while, but im not sure what method OP is using. Though I think CCRP just as a general rule of thumb, can get a bit funny when the target point is at altitude

The target and line are aligned and showing perfectly. I even tried using the target change button. In the sim environment, no matter what I do, it won’t release the bomb. I’m experiencing this issue regardless of the map. I’ll upload a video as soon as possible. Could there be a problem with my key bindings?

Its possible, but the controls shouldnt differ from ARB which you said works fine.

A video of you on a bombing run would be much appreciated.

Out of curiosity, is it having the same issue in a test match set to SIM, or just in real SIM matches?

SIM Record

Can you check

I have same issue in test and real SIM matches. CCRP only work in Arcade and Realistic mode

I think its a keybind issue, it would say “bomb release permission” when you begin to press and hold on approach to the drop point, but in neither of your runs (0:50 & 2:00) did that appear.

I would advise setting a keybind for “fire secondary weapon”. This will allow you to remain in weapon selection and utelise ripple quantity which you did select.

Then, when you are aligned to the target, press & hold that keybind. This should give you a “bomb release permission” popup at the bottom of the screen.

A video from my guide showing the popup

It looks like you have “weapon selection” turned on. I’m not sure if that always blocks CCRP drop, but I have my “Drop bomb series” keybind set to the same key as I do to “exit selected weapon mode”. (Because it won’t let me use CCRP without clearing weapon selection mode.)

@Morvran do you know if it’s possible to use Drop bomb series (and then CCRP) without turning off weapon selection mode?

Edit:

Ah there it is.

It is not, they made it hard locked, and it will tell you that bomb series doesnt work when in weapon selection via a popup at the bottom of the screen.

CCRP does work in weapon selection, it just needs the right keybind, utelising the “fire secondary weapon” keybind works for this and I select bomb amount via ripple quantity, it is my usual method unless I specifically want to use a bomb series mode like “all” then I’ll toggle weapon selection off and bomb series is set to the same keybind I have “fire secondary weapon” bound too

Ahhhh neato, I did not know about that secondary way to use CCRP, thanks for the explanation!

I set a keybind for secondary weapons but not say bomb release permission message

So, you have weapon selection enabled

You fly direct at the target

you press and hold that keybind (space)

and nothing comes up?

hmmmm…

unfortunately yes :(

Can you try a loadout with MK83 (1000lb bombs) instead of the Mk79 napalm, just to see if its a napalm issue
