Description: The CANT Z1007 Ter Serie XII was the last and most advanced variant ever produced of the Z1007. This upgrade was planned due to delays related to another aircraft, the CANT Z1018 Leone, the medium bomber made to replace this CANT Z1007. Due to this delay, the designer of the CANT Z1007, Filippo Zappata, started designing a new upgrade for the existing CANT Z1007 that featured the installation of new propellers, the Piaggio P.XIX Turbine with 1.180 hp. Thanks to this new propeller, the aircraft was able to greatly increase its flight performance. The engine was also easy to install since it was already installed on the last Bis units. The second upgrade done was the installation of a new turret on the top and the replacement of the 7.7 mm machinegun with only 12.7 mm. A total of 50 units were produced until the armistice of September 1943. Those units were used before the armistice by the “Raggruppamento Da Bombardamento” (a group made up of multiple squadrons) to bomb allied ships and facilities in North Africa. They were also used to contrast the Allied landing force in Sicily. After the armistice, the aircraft was used by basically everyone. The Germans stole a total of 40 CANT Z1007 (some Ter were captured), the Italian Social Republic had a total of 14 units that were not able to perform any missions due to the allied bombing, and the Cobelligerant Kingdom of Italy used the main number of the remaining aircraft. The Cobelligerant Regia Aereonautica used those mainly to resupply the Yugoslav units in Yugoslavia. The other users, such as Germany, used them for training, while the RSI, as said before, was not able to use them.
Why it should be in the game: Thanks to a better defensive armament and better engines this aircraft could give to the Italian TT a new and powerfoul bomber.
