you can use rockets as sort of countermeasures. doesnt work great but still something. against front aspect shots by 9L and 60M vs my F-4C it did help
oh dude i legit never thought of that, do you have to spam them? Like fire off at an angle and cut burner?
actually, if i have an aim9b, can i lock the aim9L and “flare” it like that?
Yeah, it works.
I just don’t prefer it as long as rocket pods are extremely heavier than normal countermeasure pods.
Sure, the front of the airframe is a deathzone, but the only one you usually see is the Premium one with only 2 missiles.
Considering my time on that exact airframe, I can say comfortably that I get most of my kills from guns and not the missiles. It’s easy to make someone overshoot if they aren’t comfortable with using their guns.
If you truly want to rid them quickly, just get comfortable jumping them from the upper rear/rear-sides of their planes from above and gun them.
I won’t use the flare argument because some airframes don’t have flares or others don’t really work that well like the Kfir Canard.
These airframes usually do well against others or can usually stay out of the frontal death-zone when playing properly.
i heard the zunis have bigger heat signature than FFAR. yeah you do have to fire off a couple, i just sort of did a circularish spread
and i dont think so since 9B is rear aspect.
well in a flareless jet you know for sure is going to fight all-aspects (such as F-4C) its the best option besides playing smart and picking your fights
How is telling you not to bleed speed in front of one bad advice? Your Mirage won’t need to ever dogfight someone when you can fly that fast in a straight line.
And your Mig-21S is one of the most busted premiums in the game.
One Complaint.
Attack them from a rear position while above them at a steep angle with your guns. They can only dodge and roll, which you just have to lead properly to kill. Most A-10 players also aren’t paying attention because they’re low levels.
If you screw up, of course it’s going to have consequences. The A-10 is an agile airframe, but it can’t keep up with you.
Only possible in the Ariete/Sag 2. Otherwise its not really possible if fired within 2km.
Not sure about a 9B, but I’ve used a PL-5Bs like that in a headon before.
probably just the better rear aspect seekers then
In conclusion, for OP
- You usually can’t evade AIM-9L fired from A-10A within 2km if you don’t have either CM or Speed.
Don’t get close and KEEP FLYING FAST - You can bring rocket pods as a makeshift flare against them. for dealing with frontal attack.
and addition.
- You can try shooting AIM-9L down directly with your AIM-9B as a last resort, but it is a bit risky gambit.
I had one or two? experience about taking tone of them and successed. Maybe because the missile is burning hot enough. But you know, AIM-9B is rear aspect. So don’t trust them too much.
it is, i never said it wasnt good, it claps most things in a fight.
heres the thing, i dont screw up against them if i have the angle since the Mig21s has an excellent gun thats easy to use. usually i get boxed in with an A10 in front which is why im asking if you can roll their missiles.
so it can be done, i never tried but if i have to, ill try, maybe the seeker will go bananas or something.
You can’t roll most missiles past the AIM-9B. Anything above about 14G pull and you can’t outpull them without special methods.
what? ive rolled r73s in the mirage 2000, what the hell are you talking about. You can roll 20G SARH too lmao.
9Ls go for anything with a bit of heat. Just spam rockets, that’ll defeat an Aim-9L most of the time. Heck, Ive even had rockets defeat an Aim-9M before
You cannot “roll” an R-73. You can kill its energy, but you physically cannot out-G an R-73.
You choose how to die, A10 chooses how to feast. I’ve barely pulled 2-3 9Ls back in the days in my mig19… And they changed seekers a few times so I’m not quite sure about how bad, but would still be far from easy.
Get behind a rafale and you can gun him down in reserve plane.
That’s a strawman argument.
There is a clear difference between a sub-mach A-10A and a Mach 2 Rafale with Thrust Vectoring Fox-3 missiles.
With the best turn rate, the best radius, the best cannon and the most cm, and also 4 9L + the choice to proceed to ground pound.
He can just turn to you. If he’s distracted? Why not assume he’s afk climbing. And think about that possibly flareless teammate taking his attention - or not, for he’s starting to disengage.
No strawman needed. Just using your logic.
Oh and, getting behind the a10 by climbing at the start of the match is a well known tactic since they added a10. Yes you will have a chance to attack. No a10 hounds never die out for this.
