Alright so for the past nearly 4 months, since the release of Alpha Strike AA.20s have been bugged (I’ve also heard the British Fireflash suffers from the same issue, but I have not used it). In the current state of the game, they detonate too late and will do very little damage even if they manage to detonate close to the target. I’ve made a report here, and it has been acknowledged for over a month now.
My goal here is to raise awareness for, I only assume, the few people who enjoy using Nords like I do in hopes the Devs will actually implement a change rather than just sitting on it. Nords have been a major contributing factor to the fun I have playing this game, and it saddens me how bad they are in their current state and I just wanted to know others’ opinions on the matter in hopes of raising awareness on the problem.
If you are unfamiliar with the issue, I encourage you to either check out the report yourself or watch this video:
Yes, I have also seen them not work as intended. Just yesterday I saw one do literally no damage while exploding next to a plane in a head on launch. There is definitely something broken in them
Fun fact: you can run into your own missiles in the Swift (new to me as I have low experience, so maybe normal).
This was in PvE however, and I was so confused I “shot myself” where it looks like the missile ran out of power then I somehow flew right up its backside.
I have a feeling the proxy fuse delay is intentional and meant to make the missile work from rear aspect, which it does. You can still get plenty of cool shots with AA nords as they are currently, you just have to avoid head-ons with high speed opponents, which imo makes for some interesting target selection.
Just having them work in headons no matter what would be easier for sure but also feel a bit cheap now that I’ve gotten used to using them with the fuse delay.
That would be all well and great, except it’s just as inconsistent at rear aspects as well. It’s been acknowledged on the bug report, however they’ve sat on that for months now and it’s been bothering me. It isn’t just head-ons, the fuse delay compounded with a suspected explosive bug makes any aspect that missile is used, inconsistent.
I managed to shoot myself down with a AIM 9L.
I flew the bucc s2b and was hugging the ground, i fired the 9L but it hit a tree right after leaving the rail and the triggerd explosion killed me XD
