i guess i should specify what makes cas op, for starters top tier, guided munitions are very much op, people are able to toss the guided munition whilst staying outside the spaas range, what do we do against that? the other thing players do is they sit abouve the radar as to not be detected, and unless you were an spaa the moment the match started you wont know that there is an enemy aircraft if they decide to space climb, you only know about them once they start dropping the guided munitions onto players and you, but even then, they can just use the fact that spaas cant aim directly up, meaning unless there is a hill to tilt your spaa you cant ever hit them, then what do you do once the drop the guided bomb? if there is nothing for you to hide behind your dead and good luck finding the bomb to destroy before it reaches you if its hazy or there are clouds, you cant even use the radar to locate the bomb if they space climbed
oh yeah another problem, spaa that use IRST cant or struggle a lot to lock the enemy if its hazy or there are clouds behind the enemy
theres problems with irst locking onto helis even if the weather is perfectly clear
Oh, they actually did something about that. Just use the βAir Alert!β voice message. If there is an enemy up, it will tell you the bearing and altitude. It will even mark the direction with a little green aircraft in the compass at the top of the screen. If there is no enemy, it will just call βairβ.
yeap, i use that A LOT. Someone always responds with Roger That and next thing ya know theres a friendly plane or someone spawning on SPAA lol
the problem with it is that you have to look in the general area of the aircraft, and even then it doesnt always work (at least for me)
then there is the Tiger heli, with its fire and forget atgm, they can pop out lock you fire then hide, and even after all that the missile still wouldnt have reached them before they hid again, what do we do against that?
That normal,β¦ β IRST work on IR signature,β¦ which is very limited for Helicopters as they have BIGASS Fan right over their engine,β¦
If you know that there is such a heli targeting you (as you implied), smoke will destroy the missile and so will any visual cover. Even passing behind a single tree is enough to force a self destruct.
what do i do on those big desert maps with no cover
but even then their ir signature is still higher than the ambient air
Use the spawn point that is not entirely in the open.
IRST is alike radar,β¦ being higher than ambient air means nothing if youβre too far away,β¦
Also most of the helicopter in games also uses specific diffusers, to avoid creating a massive IR signature onto IRST screens,β¦
Reason why IR missiles from aircrafts work so badly, against helos.
You always have an answer, donβt you? I know exactly how many people are pissed off by that β¦ I like that ^^
ok now how do i counter the space climbers if i dont know they are there, and how do i counter the people who throw the guided munitions outside my missiles range?
they can be less that 1km away and it still struggles to lock, even on the old helis that dont have the diffusers
By choosing a vehicle that is more suitable for the job. Spaceclimbers are fighter-business. SPAA is for defense against low-to-medium altitude targets.
At this point my only point would be : go learn more about IRST,β¦
god i hate irst, can we get a british SPAA that doesnt use it
Gotta keep buggin Gaijin. Thats how we got the type 81 C. Kept bugging them hard lol
