Night battles will be really cool especially with ground vehicle headlights now sent to the development team for consideration. Would love to have some night battles at lower BRs where Germany’s camo can be more effective lol

It was available in the past and it didn’t work as it was only a contest who will get post processing don better to be able to see in the dark.
I just LOVE inclement weather battles, especially with ground battles =D Air is a bit of a different story, the clouds being RIGHT on the ground really isn’t a fun time.
I really want a full mix of time and weather types in battles…but kids will just cry they cant see…unfortunately.

Naval battles at night are SO gorgeous with all the tracers! I miss them, I wish they would bring them back. Or at least give us an opt in option like for ground (even though ground night battles still do not happen enough, as the game refuses to wait even for a minute or two for a night battle to gather enough willing/opt’ed in players.)

Hey SilentTracker. In a different post you said that they took out the Night Vision Divices on BRs that don’t get night battles anymore.
I have descuved that this is not entirely true as if you go into functions, weapon modes then nightvision it will still be activateable even if you didn’t reserch it previusly as long as it had it before.
Oh, if I wrote the wrong thing, what did happen is that many vehicles start with NVD (not TVD, if they have it available) instead of it being a modification that needs to be researched. I am pretty sure that there aren’t any NVD research modifications anywhere on any ground units anymore.
TVD’s remain as a research modification however.
Also as far as I know, only a small number of vehicles lost NVD, if it was proven with research. But not a blanket removal of NVD’s, across certain BR’s.
Finally, if you want to see which NVD/TVD devices all vehicles have, check out ThunderView. Lists NVD or TVD, and which generation devices each vehicle has. Vehicles without either are not listed.

The wiesel 1A4 still has NVD reserch modification for it’s driver. other than that it’s absent.
I only say this is that I am in an odd situation.
I grinded a Squadren vheichal to finnaly play night battles. that being the Bhishma TWMP.
and finnaly after 33 battles I finnaly got one. the thing is, alongside that tank I bring the Centurion Mk 10 FV 4005, Conway, and FV4202. when I spawned in as the Centurion I had sightvision in both my sights and everywhere.
But it was dark for the Conway.
The Wiesel 1A4 has Gen 3 Thermals 😉 That’s why there is still a modification. Also, TVD modifications are colored white, while the old NVD modifications were green.
You can also hover over the modification to see what it unlocks.
Also also, if you hover over a sight in Xray view and it will now tell you which generation NVD/TVD it is. That was added very recently.

Yes, that is the driver optics. Driver = NVD, Gunner = TVD. Very few vehicles have Driver TVD’s.
Look: If you go to the Wiki, the “NVD” modification is white, not green. Again, that means that the modification unlocks TVD devices, not NVD. It already has NVD’s before you unlock the modification (for 3rd person and the Gunner at least), where before you had both a NVD modification and a TVD modification: Wiesel 1A2 | War Thunder Wiki
Germany only has 5 vehicles with Driver TVD’s, and they are all Gen 1 anyway. Very very few vehicles have Gen 2+ Driver TVD’s.

Part 1
Found the post about the TVD modifications (change was implemented after this post, but it explains what happened.)
So, nothing “lost” NVD’s, only “lost” the modification that was required to unlock them. It was a good change, less modifications to research (though, they probably raised the RP cost of the other modifications, keeping the total RP needed to spade a vehicle the same.)
Part 2
Another caveat, this post after the one one above, says “In the future NVD modifications will no longer be added on vehicles with a low Battle Rating.”
“Modifications” should mean something you have to research, “Devices” means something that a vehicle can use.
So, I am not sure if the information is unclear, and they did ONLY mean actual researchable Modifications, OR if they actually meant that NVD Devices will no longer be added to low BR vehicles.
It looks like they might have meant “Devices” because the Fox does not have any TVD’s, not for Gunner, nor Commander, nor Driver. So the most likely explanation is that they used the incorrect/imprecise word for this post.
