Yes please keep aircraft markers out of RBGF. One thing GJ could do with bombs is proper modelling of bomb arming. Bombs are not armed while attached to the aircraft. As the bomb falls away, a pin is pulled from a small propeller which spins up and arms the bomb. Doing this removes suicide bombers and dropping bombs 10 feet above a tank. Bomb would not arm and a wasted bomb. Hell dropping a bomb from 10 feet at 250 MPH would cause the bomb to skip and tumble along the ground missing the tank completely. Doesn’t happen in game.
Play an American tank - .50 cal is all the spaa you need ))
Yea, the lawndarters should have a penalty imposed of some sort… Like for the ‘effort’ they should get no SP from the run (Or half if genuinely getting shot down on the pass). Reward the ones who want to do multiple passes and go back to the airfield and rearm.
Would be a very complicated set of programing. Simply adding arming of bombs eliminates trying to differentiate between suicide bomber and the pilot that misjudges speed and angle of attack and augers in.
Not particularly… I had one last night that ploughed straight in and their bombs even went off after they went in, so that was obviously a lawndart…
You could then gauge it on thier past usages as well.
Most lawn darts set their timer to 0 seconds to make sure the ground target doesn’t have time to move away.
Yea, this one didn’t lol… Was a pure crash, followed by 2 tanks.
All that could be done–but if we’re going to talk realism we have to reign in tanks’ liberties with realism as well. For instance:
- Barrels teleporting through walls
- Crew magical chairs with their friends strewn all over them (I don’t say this should be blocked wholly…but is ~10 seconds really realistic?)
- Shells ricocheting at absurd angles (this is either mechanics with the shells or the hitcam)
- Injuries’ effects (what is a ‘yellow/red’ crewman’s efficiency in combat?)
- Fuel consumption (especially with a punctured tank)
I haven’t even started down the path regarding tanks’ repair mechanics, yet we have a great deal of other stuff to talk about already!
Given that RB GFs is considerably less realistic for GFs than AF, realism is probably not what most tankers truly desire.
Intentional suicide bombers are buffoons and I have no sympathy for them–but I must note they already lose even ‘successful’ engagements.
Given that aircraft cost more SP than tanks, any trade a kamikaze makes is a loss for the suicide bomber…and that’s if they succeed in their attack attempt. If they fail, it’s a total loss.
Sure bro I`ll shoot down F16 at 10km with .50 cal , Im on it right now , please send hypersonic ammo.
Somebody got their panties in a twist. A simple solution to suicide bombers and suddenly tanks are running out of fuel? The most unrealistic thing in RBGF is aircraft suddenly appearing in mid air and calling it a spawn? Come on, take a pill, implementing a simple arming of bombs would only effect suicide bombers.
Lmao, whose trousers in a twist?
I simply noted you cannot bludgeon one side over realism and ignore the other…if you read carefully, I didn’t object to more realism for aircraft.
As for airspawns…you’ve gotta be kidding if that’s the liberty you take issue with.
the reward for shooting down a plane is not bad. Players use SPAA for the wrong reasons and forgot how to use it against planes. I know that we will lose a game when half the team spawn in a SPAA first round trying to capture an A point and then they die because they cant fight against a medium or a heavy or they just J out to get in a plane. Take off fly to the battle field, kamikazi the ground and leave the match. Its annoying to see that he could have done so much more if he didnt do that. I think maybe they should increase the teamwork instead to get players to work together to secure a win.
We have 0 second timers for a reason, and assault timers still aren’t a solution.
Funny Cappy. I’ve considered that for a while and know that it is possible. Or think. In Naval Battles, I believe that I successfully shot Douglas SAMs at close range with my ship’s AA. People familiar with the process may correct me if I’m wrong.
I 2nd looking into this.
@FurioSS I’ve not yet shot a modern jet down, but have critically hit many. So it’s not really an overstatement. And not a shoot down but to get credited for an assist is good enough for my ego most days. (Dang fighter jocks)!
It has never made sense that the reward for kiling a plane whether im in a tank and happen to land a lucky or hit, or if Im in a dedicated SPAA system, excluisvely waiting for a plane to take down. So yeah, definetly an increased reward for SPAA shooting down a plane. Could then have a further reward multiplier based upon the SP cost of the aircraft/heli
So Tank kills plane = 1x
SPAA Kills plane = 2x
SPAA kills plane that had an SP cost above a baseline = an addition 0.5x mutliplier.
Given the point made above about the mechanics of “shooting down” planes; I would agree that this must be fixed first. And now they want to take that away instead of tightening up the mechanics of planes.
However, my biggest concern would be the entire side or sides swapping over to SPAA after someone spawns a plane. Now try to get your points while 7 other people are shooting at the same target! It’s kind of helpful when I can spank 2 or 3 planes because I was the only one to go SPAA after losing my tank in the beginning of the match. Most of the time I get awards from that because it is likely the plane carries the guy that fragged me in the tank. lol
So ultimately, fixing the “shot down” mechanic will help balance things out if we players help them make the right decisions.
You really can’t take it buddy. Ya I bludgeoned air by a simple suggest on bombs. Man you have a serious problem.
EMWAIC
Lmao, you’re having a tizzy that I said realism considerations should be universal and applied to AFs and GFs both…yet somehow I’m the bad guy.
You whip out the EMWAIC label…immediately after you demand one side be hamstrung and object to equal treatment. The irony must be lost on you.
Next time you want to talk about EMWAIC, you’ll do better to recite the line in front of a mirror. :)
Again:
When you decide that increased realism is something to apply universally, we can talk about applications of it.
You have a point, never make a suggestion on tanks or aircraft unless you include one from each? So adding arming to bombs, we can add arming distance to the ADATS missile OK? Only seems fair to me hahahaha.
You’re are too paranoid. Nobody labeled anyone with anything. Any well educated person knows what it means.
