[Bug] Aircraft Not Rendering Beyond 1km in Sim Mode – Game Nearly Unplayable

Same.

Something is definitely off about spotting planes.

sim is tiring as hell man, some updates it works great and some updates are cancer, and gaijin never directly fixed anything

I am seeing many people complaining about this in discord communities too. I hope this is not one of those bugs that go unfixed for years.

I’ve seen similar Sim aircraft detection bugs after past updates — they were usually patched quickly. Hopefully this one gets fixed soon too. Given the number of reports, it shouldn’t go unnoticed.

is there any bug report about this one? I haven’t seen any.

I am still not sure about what is the exact problem here, or I’d have raised a bug report already.

I don’t think Gaijin accepts vague bug reports without specifying the exact details.

I’ve already submitted a bug report myself, and I’m sure the devs are seeing the complaints, including discussions like this one. Also, a small update just dropped — maybe it’s the patch.

Just tested it — fuel starvation and spotting issues are still not fixed. Not sure what the update was actually for.

Raised a bug report for this. Give it a bump guys.

I made a ping on the LFG discord for you and on the subreddit as well.

Samme issue… that’s just the level of realism I didn’t ask for… xD

Thanks man!

It’s not exactly realistic when your eyes function differently to a 21 inch 1980x1080 computer screen with varying levels of graphical fidelity, varying levels of anti-aliasing especially and varying levels of weird post-fx mumbo jumbo.

And if you add VR to the mix, then you get all kinds of weird artifacts too.

As such, I would absolutely not consider this a “realistic” change.

If they want a realistic change for rendering, then it should be refraction. A not insignificant number of cockpits have far less viability in Warthunder than in real life due to refraction improving visibility which we do not have.

Said refraction can also act to enhance spotting too, but this one is an example of reducing the view-blocking effect of canopy frames.

Your pilot have to wear glasses

I made my contribution, but they never accepted visibility-of-contact reports, so I’m afraid this is the end for the War thunder simulator.

This bug will make plane spotting virtually impossible for players playing with small screens (like laptops) or lower resolutions. I really hope Gaijin addresses this.

@Schindibee @Smin1080p_WT Please help us in taking this bug to Gaijin’s notice.

As strange as it may sound, contacts are much more visible on FHD monitors than on 2K or 4K ones. This is because distant contacts were rendered as a group of 5-6 pixels regardless of resolution, and the lower the resolution, the larger the pixels are.

Hello everyone, the report has been forwarded. If someone can provide additional required files (Clog + in-game screenshot + replay), it will help a lot as the original report lacks them.

I thought it was just me. I’m glad it’s not, but the game is unplayable. In real life, on a clear day every year I can see the pacific airshow planes from the roof of my work and the show is 10 miles away. Unless they fix this, I will have to tryout DCS because War Thunder arcade and realistic mode are for kids that don’t really know how to fly and use a mouse and keyboard.

Hi, Thanks a lot for forwarding this bug to devs.

Where shall I upload the screenshot, replay link and CLog file?
