please let’s unite; these three planes have no means of defense; gunpods would be recommended; please don’t tell me that none of these three models had a project such as the one I describe??
I only use them for GRB lol I’d stay away from ARB if im flying them. No point.
A gunpod for the bomb bay was considered, but I don’t think it made it that far in development and I think was just in the design specifications
Buc S1 is in a rough shape due to lack of air spawn
Buc S2 is fine for the most part, but could benefit from being 9.0
Buc S2B is fairly solid with self defence with 2x 9Ls and internal CMs (but might need to be 10.3)
But all 3 are far better suited for Air SIM and not Air RB. Its a problem a lot of strike aircraft face at the moment and we really need an RB EC gamemode
i dont think the bucc ever had guns. im spading the S2b right now and I wish I had something a little better than 9L sidewinders for 10.7 honestly. I don’t get why its so much higher than the S2 when its essentially identical but with a lot less countermeasures
All-aspect IRs. Vs CM-less aircraft it’s basically 2 free kills. Which is why it moved up. But could probably be fine at 10.3
10.3 would be better, as then i wouldn’t need to bring chaff in case I see the maybe two planes with sparrows. Id happily go back to 9G if it meant It would be 9.7 or 10.0 as well
Yeah… It’s tough… Now the radar needs to be added to the S2 and the S2Bs RWR is underperforming a LOT at the moment. But in sim at least I like being able to shoot in a headon at something coming at me which I can ID via the radar. It’s not actually half bad hunting in sim.
Really grainy, but here’s the full thing.
No, it’s not. I nearly made the same mistake. It’s the gunpod from the canberra. Someone in the secret lab forum was asking if it would be similar
At least I’m 95% sure that is what that is
I believe you are correct, but it looks almost identical.
Yeah, very much the same concept. A Bomb-bay gunpod
It’s nice to know that there is a 30mm x 4 Aden cannon bay bomb; the developers should work on it.
Played all 3 of them in RB for hte Iranian F-14 event - no troubles at all, usually got a landing and 2nd strike - easy spading.
Missiles were hardly ever used - got a couple of AI strike a/c I think, maybe 1 lower tier fighter that was unlucky - use them for what they, run away from air combat, hit whatever you can when you can, and stop thinking they are something else.
They’d become easier kills since people would think they can actually mix it!!
Just drop the S.2B to 10.0, the same as the Su-25.
At 10.7 it’s just impossible.
NVM that what about only 1 of them having a radar.
10.0 with 9Ls is too low, there is a reason we had that decompress.
Maybe 10.3 due to the limitations of the Buc S2B
Airspawns need to make a comeback for some top tier aircraft. There are a lot of aircraft like the various Bucs, the A6, A7s, F117s, and other similar bomber/attack focused aircraft from other countries that are completely unplayable. An airspawn would help a lot. They will still get thumped but at least the player has a chance to get some score before getting smashed.
I keep saying it: Those are exactly the aircraft that are very well suited for Sim, while they obviously struggle in AB/RB. So why insist on flying them in the game modes where they do badly, when another mode is available?
Because sim isn’t really sim. If I am going to play sim I am playing DCS. WT shouldn’t be able to use the term sim when most systems aren’t modeled. They should call it hard core or something else. That said not everyone likes that game mode. Air RB is one of the most popular modes. As Joe Dirt once said, “it’s not what you like, it’s what the consumer likes”. Making people play a mode they don’t like in order to enjoy an aircraft they like flying is a poor strategy to maintain a strong player base.
What the game mode is called is quite beside the topic here. Of course it’s not DCS, and lacks its depths. Nor is RB “realistic”.
That may be so, at its meta certainly fits fighters very well, which is what most people enjoy.
So what makes it popular? My assumption (but I’ll gladly be corrected, If I’m wrong), is because of its quick action fighter against fighter.
…which makes it in turn less suitable for attackers and bombers, aircraft not optimised for air to air battles, when they are thrown into the same massive furball like everybody else to try to get to one of the ground tragets in time, before everybody else.
So what speaks against sim, a game mode where attackers and bombers have the opportuity to ise their evasive tactics better, have enough targets for everybody (mostly…) and not being presented on a plate like cocktail sausages for fighters?
But what IS the aspect of Sim that has people shy away from it?
And if you like to fly those aircraft, why?
Now, I love those aircraft, and have a lot of fun with all of the three variants, today flying the S.2B mostly, exclusively in Sim. I’m generally preferring attackers/bombers over fighters, and am a dedicated mud mover.
And that’s something that is really much more difficult and stressfull in RB, exactly because of the features that make RB so popular. So I still don’t understand why I should cling to a game mode that doesn’t allow me to enjoy my preferred aircraft class easily, when there is that other game mode (let’s call it “RMM” - Reduced Marker Mode - where I can play this class perfectly to its strengths…
