It kind of got drowned out by the huge Chally buff, but the Scimitar and Striker now have working neutral steering. They’ve gone from barely being able to neutral steer to being able to neutral steer extremely fast, another great change!

Their general steering characteristics have also been fixed, no wobbling all over the place.

and they’ve fixed the steering

Yep, they feel really good now, no more wobbling all over the place.

Speaking of AH Mk 2, is there any update on a potential name change from AH-64E?

AH-64E is the correct service name for it

Its planned to be changed to AH Mk 2.

In all fairness I believe this is the point exactly - most smoke does not defeat IR, however for game convention all smoke does, including dischargers from WW2 which I am about 95% certain have near-zero IR blocking properties. The question is why can’t the same be done for radar?

At the rate we’re currently going, if smoke blocking radar is never implemented then neither will brimstone (as obviously 18 countermeasure-proof tubes of immediate death IS overpowered) leaving Britain effectively without a modern fire and forget air to ground weapon. A compromise has to be made to bridge that gap.

It shouldn’t be. The MoD and Army both refer to it only as AH-64E. It’s treated as an entirely separate aircraft rather than a continuation of the Apache because the contractor for the AH-64E is Boeing, and the contractor for Apache (Mk1) was Leonardo (formerly Westland)
Calling it “Apache Mk.2” is avoided entirely, so as to avoid mistakes in documentation and maintenance in such a way that Boeing’s aircraft may be attributed to Leonardo, or vice versa.

Examples of parallel MoD forms for both the legacy Apache, and AH-64E are available online. It shows how only the AH-64E name is used for the new aircraft, and how using “Apache Mk.2” as a reference name will result in pulling the wrong documentation for maintenance and other resources.

AH MK.2 sounds way cooler though…

Offical MOD contracts and materials have also reffered to it as AH Mk 2:

At international public events it has also been referred to as this as well:

So in order to better distinguish it in game, this name as been chosen.

Air Tattoo is a civilian run event. Not a Ministry of Defence event.
The only official UK military air show is the RAF Cosford Air Show

Congrats with mobility buff guys!

Thats clear. But as mentioned, MOD documents above also reffer to it as AH Mk 2 as well. So this name can also be used.

RIAT was just a further example of how this name has been used.

Excellent

This one?
Schedule 3 (Tasking Order Form) - FATS STS Tasking

That document is from 2017 it pre-dates AH-64E’s acceptance in to service, where its designation was decided upon. In fact it will pre-date any official MoD service documentation on the AH-64E at all, because it’s literally talking about putting together the Statement of Operating Intent before delivering it to the Type Airworthiness Authority’s Subject Matter Expert to start the process of assessing the AH-64E’s airworthiness for flying in the UK. So it’s entirely prospective.

The SOI has to be submitted and approved by the TAA before any other documentation such as Aircrew Publications (APs) and Instructions for Sustaining Type Airworthiness (ISTAs) can be put together to form the type’s Air System Document Set (ADS). And compiling the ADS is where the problems I outlined with the use of “Apache Mk2” would have arisen.

Were the two used in the initial internal report.

Along with the other public display mentions.
