British Weapon Systems - Technical data and discussion

1992 - you only really had two Su-27s running around. Flanker B (single-seat serial production model) or Flanker C (two-seater).

also would britain actually have performance data for flanker/mig-29? or did they just calculate it?

Its not specific to an actual variant, found the snippet:
Mig-29+ is a mig 29 with a 20% uprating of the RD33
Su-27+ is a su-27 with aerodynamic improvements(unspecified) and a 13.5% uprating of the AL-31F

by then yes, german mig-29’s

is their roll rate still ahistorically terrible

ngl thought 29+ would be about 29m, 29 with bigger wings, 200ish kg heavier and around 7% more thrust, but ig that makes sense that it would actually be about the german 912

I’d be surprised if they DIDN’T - given that a significant percentage of all intelligence operations were given over to gaining data on REDFOR equipment. BRIXMIS being one notable avenue.

its more about assuming practical worst case improvements for soviet aircraft and how we would compare.

first publically available su-27 manual with sustained charts come around in the early 2000s, but ig it would make sense that they had gotten an illegal copy of it already long before then

Makes sense, thanks for the additional context.

fair. that is essentially what the su-27sm/chinese flankers are irl and in game, so it wasn’t a bad choice to make.

It wasn’t just manuals they managed to nab. From wiki (but reference sourced).

BRIXMIS was also noted for many technical intelligence coups,[11] including:

If you ever wonder why the modern-day RU govt is so eager to blame the perfidious British and their secret services… it is because there is some previous form for Grade A skullduggery… =)

that is literally su-27m/su-35, su27 with canards and around a 14% increase of thrust (11400 kgf to 13000 kgf)
alright thanks for confirming/clarifying everything i asked

Su-27+ and MiG-29+ are hypothetical improved versions:

Well the graphs are post German reunification, so MiG-29 data likely came from Germany. Su-27 data was presumably obtained from intelligence sources and / or estimated.

Its still bad, its better, but still bad.

It would help a lot if we could take less than 46 mins of fuel… most of the fuel weight is in the wings

The new NF Mosquito does benefit by being a few hundred kilograms lighter than the Mosquito we have ingame though.

I can only assume Gaijin fears the Mozzie

that can be the only reason for them holding off on the bomber variants for so long

I imagine them having an internal 4000lb bomb with 400+mph top speed could be hard to balance in arb

Prior to the Split BRs, it does make sense a bit because how the hell do you balance them?

BR 2.3-2.7 with 4k bomb in GRB?

or 4.7-5.3 with no guns and slower than most in ARB?

But why its taken so long after its introduction is beyond me

At 4.7 - 5.3 the Mosquito bomber variants would be faster than a lot of fighters though. Their top speed is around 415mph (at alt), which can certainly outrun a lot of stuff. The JU288 is significantly lower, and I’ve had troubles catching that even in 6.0 planes.

Due to their lack of guns and better engines, they are actually noticeably faster than any Mosquito we have ingame. Add the airspawn, and they can destroy a single base and rush back to the airfield while being almost impossible to catch.

They’ll basically be a slower British version of the first German arado, but with a much better bombload and acceleration.
