British Weapon Systems - Technical data and discussion

The Wildcat heli as flown with Spikes, and the preproduction South Korean ones flew under British Colours for integration. Can also equip Sea Venom ASHW which has an IIR seeker as mentioned by Flame

There’s also the Indian Nag derivative armed helis, only 7km range, but can come on a number of platforms.

They also have AH-64Es, but no idea as to the planned weapon fit.

Im aware of this, but I meant to talk about longer range missiles (longer than 8km)

Sorry, forgot to specify that

wish granted

Sea Venom is 20+ km IIRC

SPIKE NLOS has a range of 32KM apparently.

Ah yeah, Sea Venom on Wildcat only then basically. I’m unaware of any other options, Aussies are going to the AH-64E next, but again nothing on weapons as far as I know. Canada doesn’t operate any AHs of any sort iirc.

At least SRAAM/Taildog god a second life in being the startline for ASRAAM.

was just around a little too early in history

Yeah… But would have been awesome if they entered service and we eventually got an SRAAM Mk2 with IRCCM or something :D

would have been quite the spicy missile if it had IRCCM

The kiwis operate the penguin on either their seasprites, I have been waiting for them to add it ever since the nords got the missile on the F-5A, 55km range with IR+IOG and IRCCM sounds pretty good to me…

Cant target targets with a radius less than 10 meters or so though

Some cool new stuff has been shown at the first day of DSEI 2025:

Firstly, the new AJAX IFV variant:

  • A new unmanned turret fitted with the same 40mm CTA gun as the standard AJAX.
  • Troop carrying capacity of 8 dismounts achieved by an extended hull.
  • A Javelin/Spike ATGM launcher integrated.
  • Iron Fist active protection system as seen on the Challenger 2 Black Night.
  • Lots of other smaller changes.

Secondly, the AJAX “BLACKJAX”

The BLACKJAX is an upgraded AJAX, featuring the Iron Fist APS, improved gun elevation up to 85 degrees (to counter drones), a redesigned gun mounting/mantlet and improved rubber tracks.

Thirdly, something small, a new Challenger 3 photo.

The Challenger 3 is being displayed at DSEI 2025, but we have yet to see much info on it as it seems to be in a more exclusive area.

I can see that turret getting rolled into mainline Ajax production tbh, especially if it’s cheap.

weird tbh, last I heard the BA is quite happy with Boxer atm, apart from considering a turreted variant, I guess this is being offered for export?

Be good for WT though.

Ajax at 10.3, Blackjax at 10.3/.7 as a premium/sqn, then Ajax IFV as a 10.7/11.0 F&F.

Is it only me that finds it really funny they turned an IFV into a LT then back into an IFV?

Ifv version is probs to make up the money from the original being a money sink lol, would be v nice for britain very good top tier candidate

Now this is the IFV we need for top tier

and this would be good for 10.3/10.7. Does it have a way of tracking said drones?

Damn the CR3 looks good when its not naked

After the issues Ajax has had I doubt any export customers would be interested, especially if GD can’t convince people the QC issues are dealt with

From what I’ve heard the Army are very happy with the Boxer, as a troop transport.

However, they also recognise the fact our variants all lack a proper auto cannon armed turret and cannot provide adequate fire support.

The current solution is to use our AJAX to support them, however, the Army want a dedicated IFV which can both carry troops and provide fire support which fills this gap.

There’s been talk of an auto cannon armed ARES IFV variant for a while, and it seems like this is the result

Forgive me for sounding stupid or something, but couldn’t we get the boxer with the cta40 turret and maybe some spikes or javelins bolted atop it?

they could yes hell it was made ages ago lol
