Just curious, whats the usual max range lock for the martel/pgm for moving targets currently?
Just wondering as I was using the new test room features in the dev server so I could track moving targets without it being a nightmare trying to find them in the desert and it wouldnt lock on to them from beyond 6km with either weapon. IDK why but I thought they had a larger track range currently on live?
the lock range stat is the absolute max, so ideal conditions you can get 12km. Practically it’s more going to be ~6km, so you launch in point mode and hope it picks up the vehicle when it’s in range.
I still feel like something is off with PGM ever since they was added. In some scenarios regular paveways will get to the target quicker than a PGM. Which don’t make sense to me because it’s basically a bomb with a rocket motor so it should maintain speed better surely.
Quick test has IIR PGMs reliably tracking at 10-15km (UI shows some very brief switches to track beyond that depending on target, like the TOR got a brief track at 20 and 16km, with a solid track at around 15km)
Martels are gunna need some work I think. I’ll wait till live and see if they get further polished.
They seem to not have any kinda of loft programmed into them and when fired at low alt at a naval target will just slam into the sea. They also have a tendency to still miss the naval target by flying too high when you do drop them from a higher alt
300ft launch vs 10km and it just hits the water despite the motor still burning
Martel missing naval target:
I’ve checked the TV PGMs and they’ll hit the target just fine, so its not a TV related issue.
Flame does have a report in for the lack of lofting though:
They also dont pack that much of a punch, but that seems to be the standard for ASMs from what i’ve heard about the AS-34s at the moment as they dont aim for any weakspots / damage model limitations.
They seem to fly beautifuly to target when fired above about 400ft for me, but wierdly dont work below about 300ft.
As for missing, when the missile is coming down with any angle then hit chances go up a lot. As its not aiming for something from the side but rather down onto it
