Love the Mk.3, now I need the 3i and 3m
luv me vickers

this looks utterly disgusting and disgraceful i want it
Lol.
Also, we could potentially add the Osório as it used the Vickers MBT turret.
I know something else built by ROF for the export market
Chieftain 900 my favourite sheet metal warrior.

Vickers and Marconi Centurion, with a LRF and 720bhp diesel engine.
How did they pull that off?
Some more Vickers options that have been dug out and typed up over the past few month:
A VFM5 with the venerable L7 105mm cannon as opposed to the Royal Ordnance LRF 105mm. Whilst functionally identical to the one in-game, it could be given some unique ammunition (like Excalibur 105mm APFSDS) to give Britain a higher BR tracked light tank.

A variant of the long overdue Vickers Valiant, incorporating the same redesigned Universal Turret as seen on the Vickers Mk 7/2. If the regular Valiant is the Vickers Mk 4, then this is the Vickers Mk 4/2.

A basic retrofit package for the Centurion, based on a Mk 5 chassis, incorporating a 750hp engine upgrade.

A more advanced retrofit package for the Centurion, featuring the same new engine, but also new FCS, a laser rangefinder, and, importantly, access to early 105mm APFSDS, like L64A4. Essentially a British Olifant Mk 1A.
An early variant of the Challenger 2E, then known as the Desert Challenger, which lacks the redesigned mantlet, retains the barrel mounted TOGS, and has a drivers camera with thermal imaging. All while keeping the 1,500hp engine. A unique option for another highly mobile Challenger 2.

ive seen some of these on the suggestion forum and i hope they all make it especially that improved vfm5 L7
Following the positive feedback in this thread so far, I’ve made a significant update to the original post, turning it into somewhat of a mega-list for all the British-built, export-focused tanks and upgrade packages that would fit well into the second MBT line of the British tree. This list is by no means final, and I’d love to hear any other options put forward.
you caught my attention on vickers MkIV and lost it on royal ordnance offsprings.
Tell me more about Vicks Mk IV. They look very interesting
Minor spelling mistake. Post is null and void now.
doubtful, i think vickers is dead dead dead
BAE will own the rights
Oh boy where to start.
You get a 1000hp engine, Chobham composite armour across the front and sides, lightweight at 46 tonnes so about 22 hp/tonne, and 3 turret options as built:
-
You’ve got the absolute earliest fully complete vehicle armour with an L7 105mm, capable of firing APFSDS, IRL this was most likely L64A4, but we don’t have that in-game (yet) so would end up with DM23/DM33. Would be a nifty little machine at around 9.3/9.7.
-
You’ve then got the first 120mm (L11 rifled cannon, same as the Challenger 1) Universal Turret, which is already present in-game on the Vickers Mk 7. Would be lovely with L23(A1) at around 10.0.
-
And then finally you’ve got the Valiant with the second-generation (kind of third generation?) Universal Turret, as also fitted to the Vickers Mk 7/2. This also uses the British rifled L11 120mm, so wouldn’t be hugely different, but would be a good option for a premium/event vehicle while the first 2 Valiants are needed in the tech tree. Again, with L23A1 would be nice around 10.0.
The turret was also capable of being fitted with the Rheinmetall and GIAT 120mm smoothbore cannons, and these designs were fully drawn up, but the conversions were never carried out, whether that’s enough for serious consideration in-game I don’t know, but there are the 3 actually built options to prioritise first.
IRL the Valiant was trialled and seriously considered by several nations (Spain and some middle eastern countries mainly), but it had some issues around reliability, and it managed to be as lightweight as possible by using an aluminium hull, which had some pretty serious fatiguing issues. Regardless, these wouldn’t be problems in-game, so it would be great to see the family.
Probably the BEST part about the Vickers Mk 4 family is that because of all the turret interchangeability, by modelling one single vehicle (consisting of the Vickers Mk 4 hull and the Revised 120mm Universal Turret) Gaijin can squeeze THREE highly requested tanks out of it:
Vickers Mk 4 hull + in-game Vickers Mk 7 turret = Vickers Mk 4 120mm (Early)
Vickers Mk 4 hull + revised Universal Turret = Vickers Mk 4 120mm (Late)
In-game Vickers Mk 7 hull + revised Universal Turret = Vickers Mk 7/2
It’s an easy, low effort slam dunk, in terms of filling out the tech tree, improving gameplay, and adding highly requested vehicles. It’s a headscratcher as to why it’s not been done yet to be honest.
That sound wonderful tbh. Pretty good addition to the collection
AUssie gets the M1A2 now too
*AUssie gets the M1A2 now too, soon the RedBack IFV and the K2 Artillery.
*British Scorpion tank with 75 and 90mm gun that goes 120 kmph but has a manual turret rotation. New Zealand and Indonesia used them.
