No, Renown’s armour had been upgraded in its 1920s refit already, when her superstructure had not been reconstructed. The 1938 reconstruction saw only minor change to the armour, mostly replacement of HT steel with the NC armour while the thickness remains the same. It was also the reason why Renown was put in the priority of receiving a major reconstruction in the 1930s, as her armour scheme was considered more advanced, therefore possessing a greater potential without having another major alternation to the armour to be a capable high speed capital ship than her sister.
Repulse’s armour upgrade on the other hand, was more of a rushing bandage fix following the serious concern on the ship’s protection after Jutland.
I tested in my own user missions where ships can fire ridiculous amounts of shells on each other to get a sufficient sample size. In terms of machinery protection both ships are somewhat similar, while magazine protection wise Renown is much much more reliable.
A good thing of Repulse was that many mistakes of armour scheme that presented on Renown, for example the missing slope deck extension below the main belt, has been corrected on her. I will try to push and see if they can fix Renown’s armour soon as many corrections can be simply copied from Repulse.

Besides, one of important thing for future British capital ships. How many hydroplanes they carry in operation irl. Current dev-version HMS Repulse carry only one Walrus. Is it two aircraft or three aircraft did RN ships carry in operation? Theoretically there are two hangar and one catapult so three is possible, but considering hard North Sea condition, maybe can carry only two.
Well given that the north sea was not the only operating theater it might have changed depending if it was operating in the med or the north sea

Float plane Vs much better AA and better protection. Still doesn’t seem worth it to me. Especially as I’m.kinda of the opinion that float plane capping needs some kind of rework and is no guarantee of a cap

It was 1943 to 1944 that Royal Navy ships started to remove catapult and stop loading hydroplane on their ships. Before that, any Royal Navy capital ships except Revenge class and Hood has ability to carry hydroplane.

Only including battleships, battlecruisers, and dreadnoughts;
Germany 3.5
USA 2.7
UK 5.7
Japan 1.35 with Russian ships counting as .5 of a ship (they did have to be refloated and overhauled) 1.1 without Russian ships, .4 for ships built only in Japan | These numbers also don’t include the two proto-battlecruiser classes Japan built which would be 1.75, 1.5 and .8 respectively
Also the US and UK numbers don’t include ships built for other navies as they’d be higher and Japan would be SoL
Didn’t bother with the others because they’d be less than 1.0. Also interesting to note that aside from the Virginia (5) and Vermont (4) classes of pre-dreads, the US would build everything in batches of two until New Mexico (3).
To be more on-topic, it seems Gaijin has a bone to pick with Britain as even the Italians are getting a Queen Elizabeth before Britain (for the tech tree). Arkhangelsk next patch before Britain gets Revenge perhaps? They prefer not to add a capital ship for nations two patches in a row I think, so seems like Repulsive will be it for this year.

Yeah I am not 100% on the numbers it used but it should not be miles of but the main point of it was just how many ships Britain made over the years and then how few are getting added. As from hood being added they could have added a 15inch armed ship every update after and only just have run out and given that we are now entering the era with Japan getting larger caliber guns then I find it some what infuriating that in coming up on 2 years of hood being added that it is still Britains best ship in game
