Yeah, as far as sniping maps go, my favorite is the giant sand one (I cannot remember the name) where you can basically shoot from one end of the map to the other. I got into a pretty fun fight with a T95E1 he eventually just LFP me, but it was still enjoyable. By the end of our 4-5 minute encounter there were close to 4 tanks next to him all firing at me, but conqueror armor saved me until they disabled me with heatfs
that or they will shoot at the mantlet, everything go through that and a simple APHE will blow you up instantly lol.
It’s the only time I have ever really seen the value inusing it, since normally the penetration drop off isn’t too bad with kinetic rounds, but when you are firing from 2000-2500 meters away, it actually becomes viable
It’s interesting how when you have bigger maps, round type needed comes down to circumstance, makes for more fun gameplay
Gaijin thinks tungsten carbide cores evaporate when piercing any surface, when what should happen is they lose a significant amount of penetration, especially if they hit something relatively thick and then there’s a gap between them and the vehicle’s armor, for example, a 20mm plate + 20mm gap and a 50mm plate. If the track on the IS-3 were separated from the hull, it would still make some sense, but being attached to the hull wouldn’t affect it as much.
Another funny point is the rest of the added armor, since a 100mm plate is better than two 50mm plates together, but at the same time, a 50mm plate + 30mm gap + 50mm is better. But I’m not sure Gaijin has implemented that. I’d have to look at the Ferdinand’s armor and then find another tank that has 200mm uniform armor and compare.
Worse in all those aspects compared to a Tiger II and worse in most of those aspect to an IS 2 both 6.7
Except for the fact that the weakspots are almost all on the turret and literally 3/4 of it are a weakspot. In fact the only part any other 7.7 can not pen is your cheeks. They can pen and overpressure your crew by hitting the mantle, they can hit your cupola which insta kills you in most cases
Like no. What you are saying is a theory but not how it is ingame
IS6 and IS4M are leagues better.
Better armour, better gun in every way possible.
Honestly, the Tiger II at 7.7 is better in every single way to a conq. The conq is without a single doubt the weakest 7.7 Ht even worse than the T32E1 which is a 7.3 tank at 7.7 because reasons.
But lets compare some more.
The community at large regards the T54 to be too weak to be at 7.7, yet it once again is better in every way possible to a conq.
Better mobility, better firepower, FAR better protection and when you hit sth with the gun it is dead. No questions asked no matter where you hit in most cases.
Meanwhile the Conq is incapable of killing stuff even when you hit ammo directly. the amount of times “Ammmunition” pops up on my damage feed yet the tank survives is insane (an “ammunition” in the damage feed means it was destroyed and not just turned yellow or red.)
But the thing is the Conq right now would be the exact same bad tank even at 6.7.
The Armour is no issue even for 4.3 vehicles, the gun will still need 2+ shots to kill most vehicles, the reload will still be bad for the damage dealt and the mobility will still be bad compared to the competition.
They should give it a solid AP round and be done with it. The gun could fire that round as it is a copy of the US 120mm gun and it would fix almost every firepower issue of the vehicle. And I do not care taht it never used a solid AP round. APDS is garbadge in the game and Gaijin will never fix it until we force every russian vehicle to use that round instead of APHE.
it didn’t have that tho.
its stuck with HESH and gaijins dogturd modelling of gen 1 APDS, conveniently almost no russian vehicle uses a gen 1 APDS so the problems with it have never been fixed
Why even bother responding when the answere is already my very next sentence???
you cant give things fake ammo.
Sure… hence why the british 120 and 105mm armed tanks use “fake”(e.g. ammo they never used but which existed and could be fired from the gune just like the US AP shell i proposed for the conq) ammo, the Yak 9k uses APHE ammo that never even existed or has any mentions in historical documents or we have literal guns with ammos that never existed like the one in the Ho-Ri prototype.
WE CAN HAVE THIS.
Im not for ANY fake ammo or loadouts in game.
no
Listen. British get 40mm at Rank I. You know that gun, the QF-2 does worse that the Russian 45mm. What does this tell you? It tells you that British guns are bad, and that you should have grinded OTHER options BECAUSE THE SNAIL WILL NOT FIX BRITAIN. I am so sorry to be the one telling you the bad news.
Same. That’s why I hate CTS sometimes. The KwK 44 in that game gets 60mm pen @ 0m 0 angle.
That is your opinion and fair.
It does not change the fact and it is a fact, that we DO HAVE “fake” ammunition in the game right now and therefore “WE CAN HAVE THIS” is a factual statement. There is right now no argument from the game and dev side against adding the ammunition, as other cases of just this happening exist.
You have arguments, which are your own and not the devs or games, why you are against it, and again that is fair.
I have arguments and opinions why we should treat the Conq the same as the other vehicles. SO either all fake ammo goes or other vehicles can get it under certain, set, conditions, like “could use the ammo, just never did”, or wether it actually needs the ammo in the first place and so on.
And adding solid AP to the conq is also just my second option as I would much prefere it if they simply buffed the APDS to be competetive with APHE. Because the community voted that APHE should be the baseline for damage dealt by a shot so the other ammunitions need to be adjusted to fall in line.
So the simple question of “would APHE have killed that guy(that your shot just now did not kill) or done significantly more damage” should always be answered with “no it would not, because the ammunition damage in this game is balanced and does not follow the - one round to rule them all - principle.”
But we all know that such a day will never come.
The conq doesn’t need solid AP.
It needs its postpen back.
About 2 years ago they increased the flat pen on the apds round but heavily nerfed the postpen. Previously it was similar in postpen to the chieftan’s apfsds (though at twice the reload). Now… its rather hilarious how bad the damage is. Especially considering the reload.
Then you have HESH, which i have a topic thats 3+ years old at this point that still pops back up every few weeks. Looks like we are never getting functional HESH again, but we can hope.
Something is definitely up with the L1G.
The projectile weighs 6.4Kg according to the wiki, it should be generating significant spall according to my understanding of the way the rounds work in game but it just doesn’t.
The 120mm APDS deals practically the same damage as 90mm APCR.
The T-55A fires a round that deals the same damage at twice the RoF and doesn’t shatter when it feels like it.
As I said, that would be my preffered solution, but Gaijin made it clear that they believe APDS is 100% fine and will not be changed.
which was also their position before they made the change to the conq’s APDS so i’m not sure if thats a good basis. It isn’t even apds in general, its specifically the conq’s thats absurdly low postpen.
