I wasn’t here for the old forum, but my friend who was says it was better.
It is yes
bring back the old version and never touch it again. Agreed
However, Gaijin most likely found the freedom given by the old forum annoying and wanted to cut down on traffic. That’s why they moved historical reports to the bug reporting community page where staff ignores them forever, and why they created this pile of turd, forum.
YES please bring back the old forums!! This new one is sooooo bad!
Literally couldnt agree more!
this is really sad. my all posts, topics and private messages… are… GONE… there is no really point to use this forum anymore. first you removed our beatufil avatars and signatures… and then killed our forum.
ok, its your product. and im the customer and i have the right that not choose to use/buy it. bye.
this new forum is really terrible…
You can’t find anything properly
All categories are broke.
It’s confusing and messy.
Really this look like some mobile crap.
I am sorry but beside the dark mode there is nothing good about it.
Yeah, there’s a reason they did that and we all know why. This dark mode is absolute trash as well.
My problem with this new forum is that the old posts will not be carried over. Thousands of posts made by loving and hard-working contributors like CaiD will be gone in two years
I have been playing WT for about 1.5 years now, so am relatively new and only started posting on the old forum a few months ago, but found it to be quite useful. So far I really can’t say the same about this new forum.
I used to work in IT for over 20 years at a large corporation and was responsible for implementing many changes to software for our companies users, so I am certainly not against change per se. However, the changes need to be properly communicated and rolled out so the impacted users are not blindsided. Also, the changes should be overall positive or obviously questions need to be asked as to why make the change in the first place. Based on what I see and have read so far, it seems to me that the change was mainly to benefit Gaijin - moving to a tool that is easier for them to manage, or some similar reason (as well as make consistent with the Enlisted forum) - I can understand that. However, at the same time they certainly should not ignore their customers when deciding on changes like this. At the very least there should have been some advance notice and explanation as to why the change was being made.
Also, the way they left all the historical data in the old forum so isolated is just wrong. Again, having worked in this field I understand that it can take a lot of work to migrate data from an old archaic system to a new database structure, but very rarely is it not possible. Again, because of no communication we are just left guessing as to the reasons for not porting over the historical data. At the very least the active topics should have been ported somehow and not just cut off.
I find it hard to believe how a company that has been around as long as Gaijin and have produced a product that has stood the test of time with mostly excellent upgrades over the years (it certainly does not look and feel like a >10yr old game) can lately keep shooting themselves in the foot by alienating a vast majority of their long time customers, first with the very badly planned economy changes (which they now look to have greatly improved, but did a lot of damage to the customer trust already) and now with this incredibly badly implemented change to a new forum. I can tell you that if I had been responsible for implementing a large change in a manner like this at my previous company I would most likely have been fired.
Come on Gaijin, you can do better. Also, for the users that keep putting good money into this game with premium accounts, paid battle pass, premium vehicles, etc, etc, we deserve better.
Where are the sub forums
You have few general categories but specific sub forum are replaced by tags.
For exemple, the academy for french language are in:
Category : national community
Sub category: french speakers
Tags: académie + [game mecanics, ground etc]
(In french for french section ^^)
From a holistic pov all changes are made to benefit gaijin.
Based on your whole comment - you describe the ideal scenario as it should be.
The reality looks completely different - it is similar to a very old couple married for 50+ years. The husband is good enough to create the family income via pensions, etc… - but gets completely dominated by his wife how his life works - so what to eat, where and how to live, what to say etc…
The husband is addressing the topics he might want to change, but gets completely ignored. Somehow he remembers good old times or has good days, but mainly he is depressed. He refuses to divorce as some of his minimum requirements are still met - and he knows that there is currently no real alternative for him to find a replacement or a new wife.
So he stays in the relationship as there are no real alternatives…
Yes, I guess my point was not well stated. I agree that all for-profit companies make decisions to benefit themselves in some manner, including those which simplify tasks, reduce costs, etc (which appears to be the reason for this new forum). However, those same companies, for the same reason, should also make decisions which do not have the potential to lose customers or reduce the number of new customers - it is just bad business to do otherwise. Recently it seems that Gaijin has either forgotten that fact or for some reason has chosen to ignore it, which makes no sense to me.
I read on a previous post that the forum was changed to allow people to edit their posts, regardless of their “Trust” status. Unless I am just blind, I see no way to edit my existing posts - there is certainly no edit button present on the posts themselves, which is where I would expect it to be. Maybe it is just because this is only my third post, so I don’t have enough “Trust” yet. However, that is what I understood had been changed.
Who would reasonably think that blocking people from being able to correct their own posts would be a good idea, regardless of their stupid “Trust” level? I’m sorry, but that is just dumb. It again speaks to the poor decisions that were made in the development and implementation of this new forum.
I am able to delete my posts, but feel that is a rather drastic form of “correction”. :)
The old forum was antiquated but readable and clear.
I thought the new forum is still in progress. But I see, its final.
The new Forum is in my eyes confusing and unstructured.
it is no fun to read and discuss in it.
Just my 5Cents
I do not think that recently fits to this context - your overall opinion about the game and dealing with customers is absolutely fine and the overall player base (including me) shares your view on things.
In case you had the chance to observe changes within the game (game play, game mechanics and game economy) or supporting processes like forum or bug reports for many years, you might come to 3 conclusions:
- Communication with customers (or simply listening to them) was never a strength of gajin, some would claim there was no communication at all.
- Implemented changes were made solely to increase income for gaijin, positive effects for players were either minor or unintended.
- A lot of introduced changes show still incredibly high passion for details, but the majority of those changes were done without any need or added value for players (“Real shatter”, “pfp”, " old/new forum").
Still can’t perma edit posts …
Wow I leave for a bit & the whole forum is changed, I kinda like the less WoT looking forum, it’s nicer but they definitely could’ve warned us.
older forum is better
i have spooken ;)
