Is that smell, salt???
M18 still as deadly as ever. Not much has changed either. Battles on 7.0 are rather rare anyway due to the lack of choice of opponents on 7.0.
So it’s rather pleasant for 4.7 players.
I can’t say anything about the Super Hellcat because I don’t own it. However, I imagine the reduced engine power in a 7.3 battle would be tough.
Yeah but the hellcat has double the speed and three times acceleration, its not classified as a tank destroyer for a reason, I have played it a lot recently (italy/china hellcat + bootleg china hellcat m64) and theyre still crazy strong even in 7.0 games but you need to have a plan now.
Super hellcat is my 2nd most played tank. Its completely fine. The engine power is the same as it always had, they just buffed it for ~2 months, and then reverted the buff. Its barely even noticable honestly.
Yeah the ZSU is a huge problem.
Why is someone’s stats a reason for their opinion to be invalid
good pen? lmao
hellcats have terrible penetration and struggle to penetrate things from 5.7
you can only get a kill with them from the sides, when you see a medium/heavy tank from the front you can pray they miss because you will definitely not pen them
I don’t think so.
If we consider only light-medium tanks
Only Germany with 7.5cm L/70 has better pen than them if we exclude those solid rock throwers(Firefly as an example)
Yes. It is not a Tank Destroyer.
If you want higher pen, use M36 instead.
IF YOU CAN GET KILL THEM EASILY WITH A FRONTAL SHOT with THAT SPEED of M18
Please tell me why it should remain 5.7
while it is moving way faster than M4A3E8 76(W)
what?
all hellcat has is speed and that cant be used on every map, you also can get easily spotted and sniped by some TD because you can rely only on side shots because of its low penetration
It isn’t low, it is quite standard-ish penetration.
T-34-85 or [other 76mm M1 wielders from USA] also share similar penetration. :|
If you dislike your 76mm M1 on M18, you have no other option than to play M36 instead.
If M18 were still designated as a tank destroyer and being 6.0, maybe I would’ve agreed with you about penetration.
But if we consider other light or medium tanks in 5.0- 6.0 BR, it isn’t that low.
I get why you are disappointed, but sire, it is a ‘light tank’ :/
its was a tank destroyer, some arbitrary class in game doesnt matter.
T34 85 has 1mm more penetration and ARMOR and even though its slower it still has good mobility
making hellcats 6.0 was a stupid change, no reason for it and it broke up lineups
also T86 also got placed at 6.0 even though it doesnt have any of the hellcat advantages, only that stab that allows it for quick shots from behind hills, its only good feature.
I mean, Gaijin thinks it is a light tank, and it works as a light tank in-game
So Gaijin will balance them as ‘light tank armed with 76mm gun’
Then, if we consider that arbitrary class :/
M18’s penetration isn’t that low as you claimed. :(
Other light tanks in that BR radius have even lower pen or a similar one.
Well, I am also wondering why T86 also became 6.0 while it doesn’t work like M64(Chinese light tank which placed a turret of hellcat on M42 Duster’s hull), though.
It should be 5.7 instead of 6.0, not for performance or balance, but for what lineup it can be in.
Realistically, the M18’s performance at 5.3, 5.7, and 6.0 is all identical. The difference is that the only other 6.0 (M4/T26) is garbage, whilst 5.7 actually has some good options to go with the Hellcat.
Wait till you see the T-44 at 6.7 with only 10mm more pen.
Its a highly mobile light tank, flanking side shots are what its best at. Use it for that. The Jumbo sherman deals with the same gun and without the mobility 0.3br higher than the M18 yet still does fine.
The T20 premium medium also uses the same gun at 6.3, with less mobility than the M18.
Purely a skill issue here. High mobility is honestly the single most advantageous feature to have in the game. It can easily be used and abused on every map.
While I dont disagree that that gun is starting to get long in the tooth by 6.0, you should never BE shooting at the front of enemy tanks. You should be intentionally positioning yourself for sneaky side shots.
This is definitely a much more solid reason to lower it to 5.7, rather than the fact its under performing at 6.0. heck because of how fast and ratty it is, it honestly works pretty well all the way up to 6.7.
Hellcat is one of the few vehicles can handle uptiers without any problem. More of the nations dont have any even closer to similar to counter the Hellcat. Im only used in my 6.3 line up and do extremly well so if in one moment Gaijin decided move up to 6.3 is probably because he really deserved it.
I killed a leopard 2a4 with bt5, doesnt mean it has good pen.
You can destroy a Leo 2 from the side using autocannons but the diference is the Hellcat in most of the situations can destroy tanks frontally aswell.
Mixed feelings on the M18 being at 6.0. Do think it should be at 5.7 more but honestly I just have a bigger problem with a vehicle that is historically classified as a tank destroyer is just considered a light tank in game. What is the reason for switching it over when that’s not what it is and not what it was built for? Even the new premium pack with the M18 in it has the sign on the back denoting it is a tank destroyer.
does it really matter besides a slight difference in sp costs
