Now, unlucky people who clicked on this page, you will hear - or technically, read - my thoughts about stupid BR decisions in War Thunder.
- Why is the E.B.R. (1951) at 5.3? To me, it looks like an overrated glorrified Puma. It has an equal armament to the Puma (more damage on APHE but a much longer reload), slightly better mobility (it doesn’t matter beyond 70 kph), and no difference in survivability. I think the Puma should be 4.0-4.3 and the E.B.R. should be 4.3-4.7.
- What the hell is going on with top tier? Merkava Mk.3 with 9.3 level of armor, 11.3 level of armament and 10.0 level of mobility at 11.3 - while Type 90 has an equal armament (worse round, much better reload), an extremley better mobility, and is somehow more survivable (this, and of course the Merkavas’ lack of armor, DOES NOT apply to real life, but since when does Gaijin care about that?).
- German tank destroyers at low tier are completley broken. You have the StuH 42 G, literally a stronger in any way version of the italian 105/25 M43 and the Swedish Sav m/43 (1946) (I know the latter has better HEAT, but no one needs 240 mm of penatraion at rank 2. It’s but a gimmic). All three are sitting at 3.0 BR. Dicker Max, Sturer Emil and 8,8 cm Flak 37 Sfl. all have the three strongest guns at their BR by far, facing only tanks that make it a point-and-click adventure. The Flak 88 also features a short reload and an optical rangefinder, at 4.0 BR. To make this even worse, despite Germany having no less than 7 different tank destroyers at BRs 3.7-4.3 and definately not being in aneed for another one, especially not a copy-paste one, Gaijin decided to give the Germans the American M44. A decision like this makes sense with struggling minor nations like Italy, Japan and France, but is completley illogical with Germany. And guess what? Their M44 is the easiest to research, requiring only 11,000 RP to get! Also, Hetzer and Jagdpanzer IV have to move up in BR or get their armor nerfed, or AT LEAST stop eating rounds with their gun barrels (the guns take no damage even upon a perfect hit).
- Comet at 5.3. This tank is at the same BR as the Challenger (not the MBT), which is straight up a better version - a nuch shorter reload, better reaction times, a stronger gun, thicker armor and less weight somehow. A short reminder that those two are at the same BR as the Panther D, which has far, far superior armor and also a much better gun. A friendly reminder that the VK 3002 (M) is at 5.0, the same BR as the KV-85, which has a weaker gun, weaker armor and is half as mobile. The VK is also at the same BR as the M4A4 (SA50), which is also, literally worse in every single aspect.
- 6.7 - Germany Vs. everyone: Germany has Tiger II (H), Ferdinand and Jagdtiger at this BR, playing against tanks like the M26 (can’t penatrate any of them frontally, they can point-and-click ther M26), T-44 (can’t do anything apart from shooting their barrels, which doesn’t work a lot of the time due to stupid damage models; it’s turret is too weak to stop even a 75/76 mm gun, not to talk about long 88), IS-2 (1944) (worse gun with longer reload, way less armor and similar mobility). You can even compare the Tiger II (H) to the T26E1-1; the Tiger has a stronger gun with shorter reload, a similar mobility and a better armor preset. Completley unfair, and the T-44 is unplayable.
- Turm III being 8.3, the same BR as the T-55A and M60A1 (AOS). The AOS has the same gun with almost twice the reload, doesn’t have the broken 30 mm gun of the Turm, is much less mobile and not much more survivable, for no reason at all (the Turm III has no armor at all, but somehow always takes 10,000 shots to get destroyed, making is more survivable than the Leopard I, despite having almost identical armor).
There are more, of course, but that will do for now.
Thank you for listening to my complaints!
