Bomber damage models are overtuned

oh no u cant onetap bombers for a easy kill now cus u
cant dogfight. what a shame

I wonder if the bv238 is going to get a updatee damage model

Here ya go, a TU-95 casually ignoring a direct impact by an SU-30.

Hell, you wont even have to use guns to kill fighters.

And to kill a single bomber you will likely have to expend all of your A2A missiles on a single target.

TLDW: The current damage model is comically overtuned and the bombers behave like they have vibranium skin.

Meanwhile this is what happens IRL when a fighter collides with a bomber.

Are AP rounds going to have more use in air battles when destroying wing spars?

Here is one from a different thread: ( The Dev Server is Opening with Major Update “Sky Odyssey”! — 04.09.2026 - #230 by RenderTenderUwU )

Seems like a bug to me, at least i hope it is.

Now one thing that can help with the damage models is having the various forms of plexiglass windows be modeled as their own modules instead of being part of the fuselage. Also as stated the 30mm HEI shells used on german aircraft can only pen 4mm at point blank and have a pretty much instantaneous fuse of 0.001mm.

Damage models are poor for aircraft and Gaijin elected to take the shortest route of increasing module HP rather than making more detailed models.

Nope not really. Not any appreciable difference from rear aspects in current DM.

He struck the propeller first, which destroyed the Su-30’s wing and prevented it from doing more damage to the rest of the aircraft.

But as Necro stated it’s likely a bug with how projectile and ramming damage gets calculated.

ironically, i prefer having sim lobbies with people who can dogfight

YUP!!! Because complainers will complain, they only listen to the big buck players.!!

Bombs have been nerfed sooooo much and amazingly you can drop RIGHT ON a tank and “HIT”

Utter joke!!! BRAVO to the programming efforts there lmao!

Source? Trust me bro

yup thats true

Saying this when Statshark says “Below Average Player” is something lmao

Bro vibe checking a biplane got me cackling but yeah that has to be a bug.

It should not be able to do that.

Alright yeah that’s 100% a bug, funny as hell since this bug also happened back in the day with fighters wing cutting bombers.

If 30mm shells explode mid air and destroy every vehicule in a 30km radius. If it was real. Would you add it in the game to make it realistic ? No because it’s a bad game mechanic. Sure bombers have problems. Sure they’re more fragile than IRL but it’s the same with fighters. P-47s are known to be taking a beating without dying yet ingame a singular .50cal burst can take it out. Should we make every plane more tanky ? No, we had it for a while and it was AWFUL. The bomber problem is that they have a place in some sort of Air RB EC (Enduring Confrontation), maybe in ground if it wasn’t as fast paced but AirRB is a Pvp mode so it’s normal that they can’t fit their role and that you can’t do much with them. And it’s a minority in every game which means buffing them or modifing them should not be detrimental to fighter gameplay which, in this case, it is.

When the wing part gets fully damaged (black) does the spar start taking a majority of damage, in which the wing finally rips off?

I would assume so but someone would have to test it.

Part 2: After extensive testing I can confirm engine fires do not cause nearly enough damage to the spars they’re closest/attached to.

shell performance against aircraft is weird even irl, its not like a tank fight where somewhat stationary targets attack each other without significant distance changes, in a dogfight scenario the bullet pursues a target and between the moment of the attack and collision of the projectile there is a considerable distance and loss of momentum, fighter planes were effective against bomb planes not simply due to the munition itself but more due to the fact that interceptors were faster and could close the distance and attack from just the right distance to make them a piece of cheese, there are records of bomb planes heavily damaged returning to base with hundreds of holes in the chasis
