Please can someone tell me how the BMPT and BMPT-72 is anyway balanced at 10.3?
I struggle to pen it from the front and sides, you can just use the protection analyst to see how BS this tank is. You get one shot before your blinded by gunfire and before you know it you’re either dead or gun is broken.
Compare it with other 10.3 or similar like the bradley, Ajax, desert warrior, the germans ones and the list goes on the BMPT tops them all by far even taking on heavy tanks 1v1 and winning because the heavies struggle to pen it.
The 72 seemed to be simply a money grab for a tank at a battle rating that has no reason to be in. I hate to say it but Russian bias or what.
Mod’s notice: Post restored and title changed as per OP’s request.
Hard agree, I have uninstalled the game, gonna stop playing after >13 years, because of this. This is not even funny anymore, it just sucks. Three games in a row the entire team gets wiped by two or three BMPTs. The 2A7V cannot deal with it… impossible. And IRL these things get outperformed by mid-cold war vehicles. What a clownshow.
it’d be fine if it wasnt for belt-fed vehicles being notorious for not having had their ammo-bug fixed, causing shots to the ammo, despite there being no blow-out panels, not to destroy the vehicle;
They should ABSOLUTELY be 11.3 minimum, imagine if this was an American or Israeli vehicle!! But I’m not surprised anything gaijin related anymore, just another scam to sell more premiums.
Wild take when the ammunition is literally bugged and doesnt consistently destroy the vehicle currently. (not refering to missiles but the main belt btw)
Oh me saying Demokrat has an inability to aim isn’t just because what they say about the BMPT. He claims that top tier russian MBTs are also, and I quote, “indestructible”.
They’re the most inconsistent vehicles to destroy/disable even when shooting at their weakspots due to extremely questionable application/modelling of modules and 5 million volumetric pixels/m².
The title of that thread was overexagerrated, sure, but realistically what he is saying is not that wrong.
The addition of modules (specifically the autoloader and trunnions [free 150-300mm CHA that doesnt create secondary spalling]) has made damage against soviet/russian MBT’s extremely inconsistent, even when shooting directly at critical components/weakspots.
Having to start pixel-sniping the correct 5cm² of the breech just to not get screwed by volumetric because of trunnions or having to specifically snipe individual charges/rounds because the spall is caught by hidden plating or modules (there is a 2mm structural steel plate around the entire autoloader on T-64 and T-80’s e.g.) is simply not justifiable when the counterpart is a basket that extends to the bottom of the vehicle and nukes half or the entire turret-crew because it creates secondary-spalling.
It’s not like I have a problem with sniping extremely small areas (I play Begleitpanzer 57 mm with SAP afterall), its just that I have a problem with aiming perfectly and then still getting screwed over by poor damage-models or other factors that I cannot affect.
I’ll make a more detailed thread/post about these issues at some point in the near future though. Won’t just be related to soviet MBT’s :)
It doesn’t help that hitting bmpt in the turret with any sort of HE including the 203mm from the M55 will not over pressure the crew and in most places wont even damage the ammo, the turret straight up eats the round and often only has some slight optic damage.
I played a a match yesterday and hit one directly in the ATGMs with a 120mm HESH round twice and only turned one slightly yellow… its completely bugged atm.
I can play the BMPTs loadouts at 9.3 and 9.7 elsewhere.
BMPT has armor though, which is why it’s 10.3.
@Demokrat4
LOL! I love NATO equipment, which is why I play War Thunder.
There hasn’t been a reason for me to touch Soviet ground vehicles outside of collecting ever since NATO vs Warsaw matchmaking was removed.
Not those ATGMs… and its not as if vics like the bmd’s are struggling at 9.7. And the armor is the same as a 12.7 mbt, which is a bit OP for any 9.3 vic to encounter.
BMPT’s ATGMs are average at best for the BR, and the APDS is very much well above the BRs it’s normally at.
As stated, the primary reason BMPT is 10.3 instead of around 9.3 is because of the armor.
The BMP2M is the better pick for damage to enemy teams.
But Sprut-M is better than BMP2M so I don’t bring the BMPs.
Y’all are giving BMPT too much credit.
It’s okay offensively, it has good armor.
Its offensive armament isn’t as good as other 10.3s such as Strf 9040 BILL, BMP2M, Bradley, etc.
Its defense is where it does something notably above others, and what should be argued on for it being OP.
10.3 could very well be too low for it based on armor.
