Before the usual dismissive comments appear, let’s establish this clearly:
This is not a skill issue.
This is not a lack of adaptation.
And this is definitely not isolated frustration.
Every time BMPTs appear and start wiping the lobby, the in-game chat explodes. Players from both teams ask for nerfs. This happens constantly, match after match, because everyone facing these vehicles understands the same thing:
At their current BR, there is no realistic way to deal with them.
And the worst part?
You can clearly see how BMPT players know this.
They rush aggressively. They overextend without fear. They push straight into multiple enemies because they know that even if they face four, five, or six opponents, most incoming shots will bounce or fail to do meaningful damage.
This isn’t confidence — it’s certainty of immunity.
Combined with their extremely high rate of fire, BMPTs can wipe entire groups in seconds. There’s no window to react, no room for counterplay. You’re not outplayed — you’re simply erased.
I say this with full authority:
I own the BMPT-72 and the BMPT variants myself. I’ve played them extensively. And playing them feels wrong. Not strong — wrong. They trivialize engagements, invalidate positioning, and remove meaningful decision-making from the game.
These vehicles are structurally unbalanced. Excessive bouncing, inconsistent internal damage, and survivability that does not belong at this BR. A vehicle that can comfortably survive reckless rushes into 1v4 or 1v5 scenarios is not “powerful” — it’s broken by design.
For context, I’ve been playing War Thunder for over 12 years.
I actively support the game: I maintain premium time, regularly buy Golden Eagles, and consistently purchase vehicle packs across multiple nations. That gives me a broad, comparative view of balance across BRs and tech trees.
Recently, I decided to grind Germany and France, investing in Leopard 2 premium packs. What I encountered wasn’t a challenging grind — it was relentless frustration.
BMPTs decide matches on their own. I’ve tested 10.7 lineups from several nations, and the outcome is always the same: total lineup wipe, regardless of skill, positioning, or teamwork.
And let’s stop avoiding reality:
The Russian bias pattern is obvious, and the community is exhausted pretending otherwise.
Again — I have Russia at top tier. This is not nation hate. This is calling out a systemic balance failure.
What makes this situation unacceptable is that the BMPT is pure pay-to-win. And worse — it’s pay-to-ruin.
Paying money to access a vehicle that allows reckless, brainless aggression while destroying the experience of everyone else is not healthy for the game. Players who grind their tech trees properly see their effort erased by a single premium vehicle rushing them head-on.
And what was Gaijin’s response to the massive backlash on official forums, Reddit, and in-game chats?
They “fixed” the armor — because it wasn’t even working correctly.
So instead of questioning whether the vehicle should exist in this state, it became even more broken.
It’s genuinely frustrating that this wasn’t properly reviewed before being released to the live server.
This is not about removing fun.
It’s about fairness, integrity, and long-term health.
Gaijin needs to raise the BR of the BMPT-72 and the entire BMPT line immediately, or fundamentally rework their survivability, damage model, and rate-of-fire effectiveness. Because right now, these vehicles are actively harming match balance, player enjoyment, and community trust.
A game cannot survive when winning means ruining everyone else’s experience.
This needs to change.
