People still play the BI? I only saw it shortly after the event but it was a beast…when used properly that is, not really noob friendly.
Every time in SQB from 7.7 to 6.7 it is the only used plane together with Arados. As no props have a chance against it unless the BI pilot goes on headon or is absolute tool, cause BI just dances around Spit 22/24 or Bearcats with ease.
Every Spitfire in game gets massively outclimbed, outrun (unless in a dive and going for the redline) and outturned by BI. Are you trolling, or are you just so clueless about aircraft performance in this game?
The IS-6 is one of the worst 7.7s.
Really? It more or less kept up with my Vickers MK 1. If it was stabilized, it’d be a beast.
The gun, reload and survivability are terrible. If it was still 7.0 I’d agree on it being op.
The survivability is not terrible at all. APDS mediocre shots with the L23A1 (the Vickers MK 1 and Centurion MK 10 APDS) will mostly bounce and HEAT doesn’t do a lot of damage. With it also pretty agile for what it is can further get the enemy to perform a terrible shot.
Reload is slow, I agree, is bad, but for how much post pen annihilation it produces I think the gun is not that bad. Ignoring the reload (because of the smaller caliber) and lack of stabilizer, purely regarding pen and post pen, outside of facing a MAUS or well angled armor I’d choose the D-30 over the APDS-only L7A1 (Cent MK10).
If you’re scared you’re going to bounce shoot next to the gun. APDS is small enough to not get caught in volumetric. HEAT will oneshot most of the time due to the compact layout and ammo all over the place.
Mobility is good for a heavy but mediocre for a medium and as long as the IS-6 is moving it can’t shoot back either.
For that to happen you have to pen in the first place and with that gun it’s easier said than done.
Or any other heavy or medium or IFV with a front engine.
The L7 is by far the best mid tier gun it’s not even close. The D-30 is terrible if compared to even the APDS only version the Centurion Mk10 gets.
Lmao, some of these comments defending the BI are insane and are a testament to how some people are confidently incorrect.
The BI has the turning capability of a prop, the top speed of a jet, and the Thrust-To-Weight ratio of a UFO.
Its three main weaknesses of control stiffening are easily avoidable as explained already by ProgramTheta here. Any pilots that don’t have potato for brain know not to put themselves in attack run that can cause highspeed loss of control.
Its low ammo count likewise is easily remedied once players realize that since they can run circle around everyone, there’s no need to waste shots until they have the perfect shot lined up.
I also agree with ProgramTheta’s comment on its fuel issue. It is nothing if they just lower their throttle to extend the fuel to as much as 15 minutes. Considering it’s a UFO jet as well, RTB to refuel and then returning to the fight WITH an advantage energy is common. I’ve rewatched replay of a BI who does this with 6 kills.
My opinion has always been the same here. It shouldn’t have been added, but now that it has been, the only solutions to it is decompression. It can’t go higher from where it’s at, but it also trashes the competition at 5.7-6.7 in as much as 1v4s.
Also, yes, the control stiffening is very easily circumnavigated by spiral diving when chasing someone to the deck, and pulling into the vertical to bleed energy if you’re going too fast in a chase and the enemy plane is trying to reverse you.
Ammo count used to be the actual weakness back before low caliber autocannons got buffed, but Tracers will snap the wings and break the rudder (if not the fuselage itself) on most props. Jet airframes are a little more sturdy, and some of the big bombers are actually quite resilient. But why go for the bombers when you can get rid of the genuine threats to the team?
Fuel is also not a weakness, just a limitation. Because of the insane thrust, you can dictate the terms of the fight against any prop, and can also leave the ring untouched against most jets. The jets that can keep up with you can’t dogfight you, and so you can bleed their speed in the vertical and still get away.
I’ve rewatched replay of a BI who does this with 6 kills.
The only reason I’m not getting more in my good games with it is because the rest of the team’s finished the other planes, or they RTB/ram into the ground first. I’ve had several 10 kill games before.
ProgramTheta actually makes the best point readily available, though. The BI’s role isn’t as a dogfighter. It’s great at it, sure, but it’s best function is in altitude harassment of the enemy team climbing. Even if it wastes all of its fuel and ammo and doesn’t get a single kill, by the time it’s heading back to base, the rest of your teammates now have the altitude advantage and are already reaping the rewards.
Dude, you’re crying about a plane that you have to spend 200€+ on, at a BR that takes me two minutes to get into, with all servers on.
Gaijin has been giving them out for free in crates.
It can do very well at higher BRs. With the right knowledge, it can be trivial to bait people into bad situations, not to mention the BI’s capability to 3rd party extremely easily.
Yeah, only have to dump a few mil to get a 1% chance
That’s spare change for a lot of players

Does the rarity of a vehicle somehow justify not talking about its strengths at a BR? Also, what crying? I’m the BI player here.
It can do very well at higher BRs. GALWAYLION
Against jet majority teams, the BI has to play opportunistically against anyone who knows how to fight them. It doesn’t mean you won’t get kills (because everyone can make mistakes, and there’s always a newbie who thinks he can stall you or reverse you), but on the whole you’re more a support jet that punishes bad play.
Jets that know how to fight the BI don’t engage you in a turnfight, and boom n zooms you until you run out of fuel so that a teammate can come in and keep up the pressure on you.
Not to get into the the large scale Vietnam map that pops up at 7.7 where you have no chance at impacting the game whatsoever.
It totally can go higher. At 7.3 or 7.7 it’ll still be effective as hell, just people will have to accept there are not able to clown on the entire lobby.
BI basically removes any chance of succesfully dogfighting or energy fighting from enemy team. With BI around it’s high speed BnZ city.
Bad play can be induced in decent players, owing to the fact that they need to come to you to kill you. Give just enough hope that they will get a shot, skirting along the line of life and death, and suddenly all the experience and reason of the attacker goes out of the window. I’ve reversed Yak-3 players in an F3F before, ones that kept their speed and “knew” the right thing to do and kept their speed high. Same with Starfighters and Lightnings when I was playing the G91s.
People are not immune to propaganda, if they see a potential kill, people most of the time will take the risk. And the ones that don’t take any risk, are passive players that won’t threaten you in the slightest.
Also, I CAN SEE TWO BIs AT THE SAME TIME, SEND HELP
I see a BI almost EVERY damn battle.
Being risk-averse in jets is one of the first things you learn as people kill you in props when you try to turnfight them. The BI also has a bit of a reputation as a menace, so while a lot of players will go out of their way to target you, most jet players won’t just turn back into you unless they make the rookie mistake of trusting their teammate to kill you while they’re trying to stall you.
The benefit jet players enjoy in such circumstances is that they don’t need to take a risk. It’s prop players who see a BI at a lower altitude who has to take a risk in angering it when trying to neutralize it.

Join us, Comrade. The skies are red and full of terrors.

Nah, I don’t believe you. You’re not saying the BI should go to 7.3-7.7 because it’ll do well there, you’re saying this because it’s ruined your Ta 152 sessions. And I know this, because I’ve shot you down several times in such sessions, and you were none too civil about it.
Which is fair. Fighting the BI in a prop is an uphill struggle. That doesn’t mean the BI is 7.3-7.7 material. I’ve played matches against jets at those BRs, and it doesn’t hold up.
