Obviously yes, but there is a difference in flight model quality
Right. It’s not that I don’t understand what you’re trying to say.
In essence, the Me 410 was a fix for the problems of the 210; consequently, several changes had to be made to the fuselage, which significantly improved the 410’s agility and handling.
The Me 410 gained about one ton in weight in order to eliminate the spin characteristics that were a defect of the Me 210. In particular, the increase in engine weight was severe, changing to the DB 603, which is 300 kg heavier than the DB 601.
As a result, while stability improved, the agility in pitch and roll actually worsened. This is the reason why the Me 410, along with the Me 210, is called a failure. Due to the Luftwaffe’s shortage of plane, it was used in various roles, but even so, it did not have the performance to completely replace the Bf 110.
Well… let’s leave the talk about the HORNISSE around here.
ngl most 109s are like fine (ignore g14 and g10)
(i think i was a bit too mean on the 109g2 (still dont like it)
but 190s are just sad esp the a5s
Actual skill issue good lord
I can’t deny that—I could easily have attacked the Spitfire, and after he dodged my attack, I could have kept flying straight to use my momentum, headed back to my airfield, exited the match, and saved my plane. Instead, I chose to stay in the fight and lose to a plane that was far superior to mine.
I also remember 109 and 190 to be far better in the early years of WT. The Guns/ammo and the FM especially.
Just try to dive on ground targets to gun them in a FW190 with gunpods. You just can’t pull up these days. Or you have to use a shallow AOA and most shells bounce off the roof. It just doesn fit. You can gunrun and in any imaginable duel with Yaks, La’s, Spits or whatever you’re doa. They all fly cicles around you. Especially on narrow GRB maps. They even outmaneuver you with bombs on their wing pylons. A B-17 or flying boats can outmaneuver you. Is this even for real?
Anyone knows whether all these nerf of the last years…regarding FM, guns, ammo are justified? Cause its hard to believe that Luftwaffe was that helpless irl.
In turn rate. not speed, not dive and not climb.
you fell for the lowest hanging fruit of blunders and decided to turnfight with the one trick pony turnfighter
Well, it was a Griffon-engined Spitfire, so there isn’t much difference in terms of diving and climbing performance; the main difference is that the Griffon variant retains much of the standard Spitfire’s maneuverability. But yes, you should have kept flying straight, gradually gaining altitude, and tried another attack with the greatest possible speed advantage.
Well, at least it’s clear to me that the G-14 doesn’t have the same flight model it did two years ago.
ngl it seems like the same rn
Personally, when I perform those vertical maneuvers and extend the flaps like that, I find it makes turning much more difficult—whereas in the video, you can see it outmaneuvering more agile aircraft with ease.
Gasp
How dare you talk about my beloved butcher birds in such a disrespectful manner?!
In all seriousness though, out of all prop fighters in the game, the 190’s have one of the highest skill thresholds to be competitive. As they don’t excel at any of the more “traditional” traits that define a good dogfighter.
Their roll rate, energy retention and high speed maneuverability are excellent compared to most planes. It is a plane that cannot use a single engagement style against all enemies, which is true for a number of planes but most noticeable in the 190’s.
It is one of the few planes in which i don’t feel worried in the slightest having an enemy on my six, as defensive flying in it is quite enjoyable and making the enemy overshoot is quite easy. And if they engage in rolling scissors, they are 95% of the time as good as done.
Along with it’s high speed performance, the flaps can be deployed at much higher speeds than in most other planes, which can be used to quickly pull lead and get shots on target, and once you’re used to the 20mm ballistics, you’re almost guaranteed a kill.
The flaps and roll rate are also very handy if you find yourself, for some reason, in a low speed dogfight, though something like a zero with a half-competent pilot will quickly remind you why you shouldn’t be doing it.
doesnt matter if you turn like a wheelbarrow filled with dogwater
thats a side effect from not being able to turn for your life
only reason you outturn people at higher speeds (650kph and higher) is cuz they start compressing and you dont
still sad turn tho
the a4/5s are sad planes
the doras are fine
and the airspawn ones too
why?
they dont overheat after 10seconds of actually using wep so you can reach your top speed
or at least come close to it
It does. Especially when flying defensively.
If you let yourself become slow. Or dont use flaps for whatever reason.
Again, flaps are a thing.
Flaps though.
Skill issue
Can be extended using MEC and fully opening your radiators.
As said, high skill threshold planes.
the FM did not change, what did change was a massive nerf to the MG 151 ballistics and damage tho
no
a high skill threshold plane (109f4 for example) would give you something back in return for skill that isnt just you now doing normal on a trash plane
Oh well, my personal observations, experiences and success in the 190 variants you find “trash” are completely different. But i guess opinion based on success is dependant on individual skill level.
So, skill issue
might also just be me looking at fw190s from a reasonable pov
