the only cannon with similar power to MG151/20 was AN/M2, while Shvak was fluctuating from bad to good (but still a bit worse), and Ta could survive a hit or 2 with no drama.
This meant Spit Mk IX LF had like 10% chance to win a head on, so they dodged.
Also this made Yak-3U nowhere near as powerfull as it is right now.
Back when in some matches I was THE ONLY fighter on my 6-man team, it was still so much more fun to play.
Currently everything 1-shots and Yak-3U, Re.2005 VDm and Spit Mk IX LF just clown on you.
Damn, I’m playing Do-335B2. It weights around 8,5-9 tons. Just lost my entire wing to a SINGLE 20mm Hispano HE shell.
So yeah, everything is paper, Ta is big, doesn’t climb and is badly armed. GG.
Yeah the 109’s are shit. So are the 190s but they are technically not even fighters from what i remember. The f2 seems to be the worst in my opinion as even with upgraded cooling it overheats so fast so you can’t stay in wep for longer than like 45s.
Again, in game modes without mouse aim instructor limits the 109s feel awesome to use. The 109 F-4 is my most flown aircraft and the F-2/F-1 aren’t much different just worse guns (but in exchange F-1/F-2 turn better ever so slightly at low speed (radius, rate), but F-4 accelerates faster. Difference seems to be in range of “user error” though.)
For overheating I just… don’t use WEP until I’m in a dogfight and then drop 47%/47% to 63%/63% to 75/75% (depending on map temperature) water/oil. Additionally, use 100% throttle only when expecting combat but drop down to 1.1 ATA (I can never remember the percentage) when I am not climbing or think I am mostly safe. By not running combat power constantly, the engine gets a nice buffer to run WEP for possibly even a 3-4 minute long dogfight without dying.
Petition gaijin to adjust instructor limits for 109s so that the mouse aim pointer can pull enough AoA to deploy the leading edge slats. Said instructor limit really does transform the 109 Fs from being the most fun 109s to… limited fun.
i feel it’s a really good plane even with the high BR.
maybe it’s cuz it’s way different in GRB, but while playing GRB i was able of out-turning a Spitfire Griffon iirc.
it’s a goddamn stick, they’re wings with fuselage, not a fuselage with wings, climbs like a speedster and 2x20mm + 1x30mm is a good combo if u’re good aiming them (and the 30mm actually works and doesn’t just spawn a little bult in the enemy target).
My assumption is to prevent people entering unrecoverable stall & spins because 109s (especially G and K models while WEPing) are quite prone to departing controlled flight unless using appropriate rudder. However, I do feel even at 14.00 AOA (out of the 17.2 true limit) it should be safe for mouse aim.
Instructor limits are almost always less than critical AoA limits on planes.
Spitfire, G.55S etc all end up benefitting from sim controls vs RB limits. It’s prevalent enough that SB controls are banned in RB tournaments after 10 years.
Climbs worse than 4.3 G.55 S0, which is already not the best climber at 4.3
If Ta had a single Shvak with 200 rounds, it would be a lot better armed than it currently is, as range ans ballistics matter a lot.
And 30mm can just randomly deal superficial damage for no reason whatsoever.
