Bf109s and FW190s are the worst experience i've had in this game

Well, since the big accidental nerf to every U.S. Prop I play/have tested, I decided to revisit the 109s. I have acquired and then played maybe 5 or 6 matches in the Bf 109 G-6… and I must say it’s quite good. At least it has favorably impressed me.

I’m an unapologetic climber at match start… and the G-6 is a rocket compared to (most of) what I usually fly. The G-6 has much more easily managed MEC/WEP than the F-4 and the guns feel… good? I was genuinely surprised. My aim still sucks, but when I get the guns on, they seem to work. The MER and climb are forgiving because when you come down on someone you can be super aggressive and just wear them out.

@Negativewaves - I am sure you will appreciate that one of the only actual dog fights I had was against an F8F-1 at about 5500 meters. Your point about altitude is certainly valid if the 109 pilot chooses to climb. He committed to turning/looping with me… and I almost felt bad for him. ;-)

There is a bug that was just discovered. I was run down by the J2M2.
Top speed of various US props has been nerfed to hell, in this case top speed of P51D30 is 681 kmh, J2M2 is 696 kmh.
I don’t know how you could’ve thought it was ok/skill issue that I was in a dive, and closed in on by a J2M2. I should’ve immediately left that thing in the dust instead of it closing.

In my limited knowledge, the heavier plane (J2M) can accelerate better in a dive. But i don’t want to dismiss your claims, because I myself am a victim of japanese planes keeping up with me in an 800 km/h dive and in a straight line

They do deploy.

Heavier planes do not necessarily accelerate better all throughout a dive, a zero will outdive a p47 up until 400kph or so.

Pretty significant difference compared to with Full-real controls though:

AoA goes up to 15.5 in this recording. You can track elevator deflection’s degree by looking at my cursor position

Approximately they deploy fully around 13 (bit over, it seems like they deploy when you go over 13 AOA but stay there as you ease the stick) degrees of angle of attack for the Bf109F4.

From what it looks like?
It looks like slats deploy when individual wing AoA goes high (which happens when you enter a slip or a skid - ergo: when turning) but cannot deploy when your wings experience equal AoA.

So that thing which should be way slower, is manuevering ALL over the place while I"m in a shallow dive with very slight inputs, and it is STILL closing in on me…and this isn’t completely out of wack with how a P51 should perform??

You are the only one maneuvering all over the place, you went from 680+ to 475 IAS… how on earth is this a slight input?

He also kept his trajectory in the dive, slow planes are allowed to accelerate in dives too lol, its not like they will dive from 3km alt to 1km and stay at 400 IAS just cuz you decided that his plane should be way slower.

tbh the devs have made Russia and Germany air at that tier eeez mode and for thoes saying they have a hard time with the FW-190’s the FW-190 A-5 is a monster run Stealth rounds on the inboard 20mm cannons Air target belts on the outboard 20mm cannons and Tracer rounds for the 7.92 Mg’s and if something gets in your gun sights it wont be there for long you literally club anyone that gets in your sights

and don’t even get me started on the 109 G-2/Trop that things like a more maneuverable FW-190 A-5

That’s straight up delusion. A FW or Bf going into a fight with inferior or equal energy state to his opponent is gonna get absolutely bodied. This doesn’t apply to planes like the Zero or Ki

There are a ton of demonic aircraft in this bracket that range from difficult but workable to play against to borderline impossible to win unless the opponents keyboard+mouse are unplugged. The Bf 109 K4, Ta 152 H and He 162 A-2 are good planes and the best that Germany can bring at this br imo. The problem is that they often face the allied late/postwar swarm of planes like the F4U-4B, F2G, P-51H, P-59A, Spitfire LF Mk9, Spitfire F Mk14, Hornet Mk3, Tempest Mk2, Yak-3U + VK-107. There are some in this list that outperform the best German planes in nearly every flight performance metric.

Germany also of course gets to enjoy Ju 288s occupying 3-4 team slots per game while being at an objective performance disadvantage against some of the strongest props in the game.

Can someone explain to me the good thing about the He 162? I only play Sim and I love this plane and I only use it to hunt bombers and some unsuspecting fighters, but it doesn’t have good weapons, it doesn’t accelerate or maintain a very high speed, nor does it turn.I think there’s some reason that Germany from 5.0 to 7.7 is a bit too screwed, but you only have to look at the I repeat, weapons, as the MK 108 is getting slower and with worse damage.I repeat, I only play sim.

Despite this looks off-topic - I only fly it in Air RB and its sole strength is top speed.

  • The problem is that it takes a while to get to an altitude you can work with and the necessity to keep your speed above 700 kmph in order to be able to dodge/escape surprise attacks out of nowhere (clouds).

  • From my pov the plane offers a similar flight performance like the Me 262 A-2a at a way lower battle rating. The decisive difference is that you can actually turnfight (to a small degree) whilst winning a turnfight in a 262 requires a F-84 as opponent.

  • The main drawback are the teams - so whilst you can rather easy score 3rd party kills vs props or other jets - without a living team you end up having the majority of the enemy team at your six.

  • Outside full uptiers and matches with BIs you are untouchable. With smart flight path planning you can even attack enemy aircraft groundpounding or strafing them on the runway - with 5 guys behind you.

  • Sideclimb to 4 km alt, pick up speed and look for targets of opportunities. Use 23 minutes fuel and 98% thrust, the fuel last then 25 minutes, no overheating. Do not try to strafe the forward airfield if there are SAMs on the main af. Keep always enough alt to have to perform emergency dives - the plane is able to get near 1.000 kmph without ripping.

Well German prop is not very easy to play at the begin with especially the FW one
But if you practice aiming get use to the gun and try do boom and zoom avoid dogfights it very enjoyable it fast and retain energy pretty well plus good climb rate.

Well, Fw 190 D9 used to be one my fav9urites before real shatter 3.0 and magical plywood bug.
It requires you to anticipate the enemy a few seconds forward to get a good firing position, and Yak-3, 3U and La-7 and 9 are the bane of your existence, but it can be very rewarding.
Or more like: could, because nowadays A6M5 will roflstomp.you in a head-on

The mg151/20mm have been fixed recently and are back to being a glorious weapon. Use a stealth belt always (much higher velocity compared to other belts), learn the trajectory and lead in test flight, don’t expect to hit anything reliably past 600m until you achieve got tier level proficiency at shooting them

D-13 > D-9 for me, controls better in a dive, making aiming and landing shots much more comfortable. Also, D-13 has advantage vs most planes at high alt, while D-9 has no real advantage at any alt, it’s decent but not better than its opposition
