That the point I want to said, one of the advantage of the 109 is the climb rate but is it the best? Not really, the spitfire, J2M, F8F and etc can easily on-par with them or out climb them. In energy fight those soviet I-185 can easily win the fight while having more powerful firepower. And even the firepower within the mg151/20 they also the worst as the 190 and those Italian got at least 2 on them

A lot of planes with good climb are slow and a lot slow climbing planes are very fast.
The Bf 109 has good climb and is neither the slowest nor the fastest.

the 20 MG-151 has 19 grams of filler which is HA-41 which is 1.5 times more powerful per gram then tetryl
while shvaks hispanos and colts have 7gram of tetryl which is equal in power pergram to TNT its accurate
and it has a trade off of having poor ballisitics compared to other 20mms
if anything hispanos and shvaks and colts are OVER PERFORMING

Warthunder LOVES selective realism, irl the fw190a4 was a monster and made a big shift in air power, in warthunder it’s mid at best.
They need to climb because the Boom and Zoom or energy fight is the only tactics that might help them to score a kill, and you right about some of the plane good climb while slow and the others is the opposite, but they are much better than the 109. Taking Spitfire and the Mustang for example as the good climb while slow and bad climb while fast, the Spitfire is slow but it climb rate can out climb the 109 and make sure they got the height that can change into speed aka the energy; while the mustang having the speed that allow it diving from 3000m having the effect of others plane diving from 5000m. And we haven’t consider they all have more superior firepower than the 109
problem with that is there is atleast three fighters that out climb you by a considerable margin and they always will be higher
I last played the Hungarian F-4 months ago, it is still playable but 20mms are as worse as hitsparkno’s right now. Try the classic BnZ and first concentrate on US fighters.
The FM issue is partially the weird control logic of slats, back in other threads someone demonstrated that the slats allows up to 15% higher turn rate. Same with engine cooling especially for F variants.
That one really sucked. 5.3 sure but you will still suffer cause the engine is worse.
The issue with that is playstyle. That means it is sadly unfriendly to players, since u have to adjust against every enemy, and in not even full uptiers you will see planes that can just slap u in every way.
I mean I liked the 3.0 190A, but beyond that they are pretty sad, D9 is good though, the rest of the A variants suffered significantly.
They are similar to early Hispano but there is just one 151, with worse ballistics, and for earlier ones u’ve got 7.92 as the side instead of 50 cals.
That pretty much works for everyone, but u have to first ensure there ain’t any P38 or super mustang above ur head.

Mg151s are good again, they basically perform like DEFAs now (ie literally incinerate or just critical sim)
BF-109s in general climb well with good altitude engine performance and are all-rounders in most everything else. For the meta they are just worse in most ways against the soviet counterparts because high altitude performance isn’t that relevant if people ignore you at altitude and start ground pounding to bleed tickets
