Barrel damage adds insult to injury for heavy armor

We have all been there, its not nice just sitting there being picked apart by a pesky little rat, but you probably have been both. You know if your in a slow heavy you need support on your flanks

Yeah, which isn’t the point, it’s just don’t argue history or that it’s a skill issue that a light tank is faster than a heavy.

Chin up m8, every dog has its day

It’s not even my clip.

Just say you hate light tanks lol, or just all of Italy for that matter

Team?
Never in my life did my team cooperate in a match
However going behind cover isnt as much of an option when you are playing some open maps

This topic is comically bad take.

its called map awareness. dont over extend, engage from positions where you can keep your flanks secure. watch the mini map, if friendlies near your flanks start dying then act acordingly.

Nothin stops a light tank from just running circles around you.

there are ways to mitigate barrel damage. when cresting or cornering in a position you suspect getting shot at dont point your gunb exactly where they are, point a little to the side of the expected target. this reduces the change of a broken or damage barrel. in between shots again wiggle your turret unpredictably . this does the same as above.

your right, if your blind, have no battle awareness then you will always die to light tanks, barrel damage or not.

Yeah. or just admit that light tanks are faster than heavy tanks and no amount of skill is going to make you avoid them and no amount of skill prevents you from your barrel getting destroyed.

Just because there are mitigating factors doesn’t mean it’s not a thing, but I’m sure it’s a preferred strategy of yours in the Caernarvon’s and such.

It will.

Don’t surrender and try getting better.

I have two issues with barrel damage. First is how inconsistent it is, especially on vehicles with no muzzle breaks, and the second is HMGs and low calibre cannons mincing barrels with a couple of hits meanwhile things like 2pdr 40mms with 80+mm pen turning them yellow - even low calibre barrels. For the sake of balance, autocannons need to have their barrel damage differ from main cannons.

American tanks around that BR already have to spend every single game pixel sniping every single tank they see with the horde of tigers and panthers, while those tigers and panthers can just center mass practically everything they fight. Knocking out barrels is one of the only ways to even the playing field.

There is already so much damn chonk around that BR that anyone fighting germany has to fight through, removing barrel damage would frankly immediately put every single tiger and Panther variant up at least 0.3 in BR.

The reason it didnt happen “historically” is because this is a game where people fight in cities at sub 500m, which was very rare in real life, among the other improvements to control, visibility, etc over real life.

I mean it IS an anti-tank rifle cartridge, and it can punch through the steel of most gun barrels, so it could cause enough damage, but not in just 10 rounds. Against tracks it makes more sense though.

For game balance it’s pretty wild, I don’t know enough about the facts behind these things, I just usually assume a bigger caliber is going to be paired with more penetration, but .50s outperform 13mm and 20mms as well.

There was a time that You could destroy the barrel with just 12.7mm

Ok to help you understand better, look at the American t30 tank (t29/t34 with 155) it’s aphe shell has decent pen, but nothing too crazy. Take note of its muzzle velocity too. Then, look at the t29’s aphe shell. Nearly double the pen (afaik), and much higher muzzle velocity. Even though the t29 only has a 105mm gun, it can punch through much more armor

I mean .50 bmg is known for excellent ballistics, the bell x-1, the first supersonic aircraft, was partially designed based on a .50 bullet. It is also more modern than the 13.2mm round, and has higher muzzle velocity than the 20mm and I think better designed AP rounds
