So I was playing sim battles for the first time today. Decided to shoot a teammate to get his attention and killed him (bearing in mind I didn’t know this happens when you shoot someone in sim battles). Then gaijin slams me with a 24hr ban. What do I do or should I wait the 24hrs?

You never get banned from just a singular teamkill, even I have never been banned for teamkilling and basically always kill teammates when the match is over, and when accidentally teamkilling, just apologize and it’s over. Not that hard

The TK system is automated. If it was a first time offense, then after two TKs it would boot you from the game.
To get a 24hr ban means you have a history of TKing other players within a short time span. There’s nothing you can do except wait out the ban, and once it is lifted. You have to be really careful since you will be under a probation period. Anymore TKs will increase the suspension time and can lead to a full ban.

You don’t get a ban for hitting only one teammate. The automatic teamkill ban system takes several factors into account (for example amount of damage/teamkills done per spawn) when judging if a ban is necessary. I have not once been banned for accidental kill which unfortunately can happen from time to time. Apologize, explain yourself. (Had 7P fail me for the first time ever because IOG. One time i wished it didnt have it lol)
To get banned for 24 hours it would have to be several teamkills in short amount of time as others have explained.

No offence but you’re an Idiot, and no one gets banned just for one team kill… you likely have done similar shenanigans before
