Summary:

BanG Dream! is a multimedia all-female band project that encompasses the creation of anime, games, comics, and real-life live performances, with voice actors performing on stage using the musical instruments assigned to their characters. The project currently has a total of ten bands under its umbrella:

  • Poppin’ Party (All voice actresses perform with their assigned instruments)

  • Roselia (All voice actresses perform with their assigned instruments)

  • Afterglow (Vocal only)

  • Pastel Palettes (Vocal only)

  • Hello, Happy World! (Vocal only)

  • Raise A Suilen (All voice actresses perform with their assigned instruments)

  • Morfonica (All voice actresses perform with their assigned instruments)

  • MyGO!!! (All voice actresses perform with their assigned instruments)

  • Ave Mujica (All voice actresses perform with their assigned instruments)

  • Mugendai Mewtype (All voice actresses perform with their assigned instruments)

History:

The project itself began in January 2015, when the company behind it, Bushiroad, started to publish its story in Monthly Bushiroad magazine, and the first band, Poppin’ Party, was formed in February of the same year. In 2016, the project was rebranded to what it is today, with the name BanG Dream! reflecting the idea of “shooting” toward one’s dream, and the first single for Poppin’ Party was also released on February 26, 2016. Heading into 2017, the project launched its mobile game BanG Dream! Girls Band Party! and its first anime series, as well as introducing four more bands alongside the mobile game: Roselia, Afterglow, Pastel Palettes, and Hello, Happy World!, with Raise A Suilen also joining the project in 2018.

The project enjoyed booming success all the way until 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic impacted it with delays and cancellations. One of its major performances, which included all of the bands (including vocal-only bands), was delayed for over two years. There are also instances where the performers were tested positive and forced to skip the events. During this time, a new band named Morfonica was introduced, featuring a violinist, marking a distinctive difference from the others. Between 2020 and 2022, the franchise also released a couple of anime movies with new stories while preparing for its next move.

In April 2022, MyGO!!! was first announced, and the members’ identities were kept secret until their 4th live performance, which was executed with the drop of the stage curtain, revealing the voice actresses clearly to the audience. The band also received its own SNS accounts on X (formerly Twitter) and YouTube, making it a special case, as no other band at the time had their own SNS accounts. Shortly after MyGO!!!’s introduction, Mugendai Mewtype—a band for VTubers—held an open audition from July 22 to August 14, and their activities officially began in November 2023.

Throughout 2023, there were also a few noticeable events for BanG Dream!. First was the beginning of Ave Mujica, which also has its own SNS accounts like MyGO!!!. The project initiated a public alternate reality game (ARG) that operated through a LINE account, and the people who collected the most clues were invited to Ave Mujica’s live events as a reward, thus sparking public interest in the band. In the summer of 2023, the anime series BanG Dream! It’s MyGO!!! aired with surprising story elements. It broke stereotypes of “idol anime” by presenting a gloomy backstory and eventful drama throughout the episodes. The anime received great reception in the Chinese-speaking community and was highly regarded for its storytelling. It won “Best Drama” and “Anime of the Year” from the jury at the r/anime awards.

The success of the anime attracted new fans to the franchise. As a result, with both anime seasons (BanG Dream! Ave Mujica aired in the first quarter of 2025), the project held a joint concert for MyGO!!! and Ave Mujica at Yokohama K-Arena, achieving full seating capacity and marking the highest ticket sales for a single concert in the project’s history. The franchise is currently preparing a new anime season for MyGO!!! and Ave Mujica, which is also set to take inspiration from the capitals of Norway, Sweden, and Finland.

Collaboration Suggestions:

Currently there is a large volume of skins related to BanG Dream! on War Thunder Live, it would be great if Gajin can implement them into the game as a special type of camo for people to purchase, and since the game already has toggle to enable or disable ahistorical camos, it won’t be a problem for people who also want to enjoy a more realistic combat.

Gaijin can add in 3D decorations related to BanG Dream!, for example band icons and chibi characters.

Gaijin can also work with Bushiroad to acquire crew voices for tanks, aircraft (also VWS) and ships as a type of in-game purchase for people who are interested in.

Just wondering.
Will Gaijin ever run a collaboration event with animation stuff and pay their collaboration royalty…?

AFAIK, Gaijin don’t have interest in these events but DMM runs their own project only for their players.

No

Would be pretty interesting to see, Especially since for some players Anime and other content.

It’ll be a cash grab for sure but it’ll be pretty nice to have a change of pace

Be cool to get crossovers (not always weeb stuff) One was passed in 2023 and was never mentioned again.

Shame really because people throw money at another game i won’t mention for the GuP promo they do.

In regards to your question, Only devs afaik will be able to answer it.

“I shall take your position into consideration.” :P

Btw, we all need to be polite, stay on topic, and not insult each other directly. Right?

Good luck! Seems weeb stuff topics are always flammable. Xd

About this topic,
I think every collaboration (not only weeb stuff) will be cool if Gaijin adds an advanced filter to enable/disable individual things.
(Which we have as historical/semi/fictional but feels needed to be expanded)

War Thunder Live is your place to go. And that´s where this kind of silliness should stay.

To this day I yearn for a Project Wingman crossover, let me slap the Cascadia flag and Cascadian independence force on my tanks, let me fly the Pacific Federation flag on my destroyers, let me jam to showdown in an air arcade match.

Uhhhhh ig I’m neutral?

I’m not really bothered by it as long the skins and music would be locked to a toggle.

Imagine players saying no to anime when 1 frontline soldiers use them to decorate stuff 2 we are having tank cod and plane toy match as a main combat form xD

I would honestly support any collab like this! Y’all are no fun. +1

Absolutely not, there are much better media franchises for collaboration. In my opinion, such a collaboration would be boring. Collaborations should have a minimum of level of relevance. For precedent on “relevance”, the Strike Witches event is an example of a relevant media for collaboration. The Strike Witches media franchise is about anthropomorphic girls engaging in air combat. In contrast, BanG Dream! is just media about girl bands, and is completely irrelevant to the game of War Thunder or any of its topics. It wouldn’t appeal to many people either, as there is no particular overlap within these two fanbases. If such a collab did happen, it would be regarded as a wasted opportunity for collaborations with better, more relevant anime media.
