Balancing battle rating and queue times. Max BR spread and BR distributions

The maximum BR spread of 1.0 leads to some horrible match ups in power between the best and worse vehicles at each battle rating and given the size of the war thunder player base is not required.

A reduction of the BR spread to 0.8 would instantly help resolve a lot of the BR compression balance issues.

Among the worst examples of this are the Maus and Is-4. Near indestructible against 6.7’s using WW2 era APHE shots and unplayable tissue against 8.7’s using APDSFS. On paper their KD stats seem fine but that’s only because the extreme’s of their match making swing them from indestructible gods to absolute garbage so average each other out on the spread sheet, but the reality of playing them or playing against them is extreme unbalance.

Along side reducing the BR spread remove the percentage distribution of players at a specific battle rating within the match which doesn’t work. Most games its a roll of the dice, are the top BR’s on your team experienced players who will carry the match or a wallet warrior who bought a single premium and will quit in 1 death. It does not provide balance.

Another awful quirk of this system is that there is only a Maximum distribution there is no minimum distribution so under the current system its entirely possible to get a 6.7 to 7.7 game where team A is 100% playing 6.7 and team B has 50% of players at 7.7/7.3

Because there is no minimum distribution this system unfairly skews the match maker in favour of the most played nation to also get the most top battle rating players on their team every game.

Starting from the Top BR the most played nation has enough players to get the full 50% of their team playing the top allowed BR. the opposing team doesn’t so it needs to suck up players from the lower end of the range to fill the gap.

As players are being pulled from the lower end of the range to fill the population gap in the top BR game the next game to start at a lower BR gets it even worse. Even less top BR players available for the lower population nation so even more players from the bottom of the range have to sucked in to fill the game.

This vicious cycle repeats and rolls down the BR’s getting progressively worse with each iteration which then further funnels players into what is already the most played nation as it gets more favourable match making, making the population distribution even worse and the match making even more favourable.

Test a reduced BR spread for 1 week. That’s all I’m asking 1 week.
After this week open up a poll available to all players who played a minimum of 10 games during this week letting them vote on whether or not they want to keep the 0.8 spread or revert to 1.0.

reducing BR spread reduces the range of differences that can cause BR differences, making real decompression harder in the future, so is a bad option
