BAe Sea Harrier - Technical data and discussion

Could he not just be talking about this;

Should still be something for navigation though right?

Also doesnt the F-18 CCRP Symbology use much the same as what the Sea Harrier should have? An input point que or something?

Though all we need is the LOFT profile cross on the designated CCRP target and the count down to make it usable in ASB. Essentially what we have on the Bucs

Yeah he could’ve set way points in his Nav to an area with a target? Follow the way points to the target area, switch to lofting mode while on course and loft a bomb?

At which point, wouldnt the designated target have the cross from the above LOFT profile?

Thats all we need for CCRP to work, to be usable.

For loft sure, but again we don’t have lofting and it doesn’t do CCRP, which is typically for lay down attacks. Shar does Loft and CCIP.

So with FA2 you can set a target with radar (MTI/SEA/MAP) or INS/GPS but not for a CCRP attack, only for lofting.

When we get lofting I’ll report that capability.

What is the difference between CCRP and lofting in an in-game sense?

Just automatic release disabled?

Functionally not alot. CCRP in game permits lofting attacks but also lay down attacks. Which SHar isn’t doing.

However CCRP can’t tell you when to start pulling up for lofting to work.

Yeah, you’ll miss alot using CCRP for lofting. But it kinda works.

But what would stop a SHar pilot IRL from just dropping a bomb in level flight using the LOFT instead of lofting attacks?

Just feels like splitting hairs

Yep… Still waiting on all the necessary symbology for the Tonka too

Well go bother people in the Tornado thread.

Cough cough

Panavia Tornado (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion - #5708 by Morvran

Shar can manual or auto loft, but CCRP is for lay down attacks not lofting.

Per the Tornado manual, explicitly mentions lay down attacks;

So its doing CCRP, CCIP and Lofting.

Shar is doing CCIP and Lofting.

So Shar needs to have CCRP removed?

Should do yes, I’ll do a report for it.

:(
Is that FRS.1 or FA.2?

FA.2 at least, I don’t have a weapons manual for FRS.1 and the FAA museum is being cagey with its release so can’t say for certain.

Just spend the 1 billion £ they were asking for duh.

Im still not understanding what the difference is in an entirely in-game setting.

In the SHar you can designate a target, it will project a target on the HUD and automatically release bombs at the right time to hit said target.

If they removed CCRP and then added Lofting instead, what would be different? How would it function differently.? That is what I dont understand

You’d be required to loft for release in a pitch up attack. In level release you’d be doing CCIP.

Couple KM for the target pitch up for release for a lofting attack.

Flying level at 80m you’d be CCIP only.
