BAe Harrier II (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion

would rather have a decent attack loadout than more flares

I really don’t think that they are going to add the useful(APAM / HEDP[M247]) AGR-20 warhead(s) let alone in a 19 rocket config. If they do add them they will probably be limited to the M151 or M282 warheads on a 7 rocket launcher

very nice

@Gunjob is there a known issue with targeting pods where they default to looking down (perpendicular to the aircraft) when you change view to them? The default position used to be the nose of the aircraft which made it very easy to aim the pod, now you have to waste time raising it to the nose to so you can orientate where you’re looking. I am playing this on Xbox Series X so maybe exclusive to console, haven’t noticed anyone else mention it?

I believe the panning down is intentional. Dislike it myself as well. A way around it is to use you key/button you have bound for Sight Stabilization in 3rd person to roughly where you want to look and the pod with be looking there once you change to the pod view.

That’s very frustrating, I don’t know why they couldn’t keep it at the nose, worked wonderfully. I have tried your suggestion, doesn’t always work out so well in SB unfortunately.

In SB, Try using “Activate Target Point” instead. Where “Sight Stabilization” works in third person,
because the pod follows the camera and so locks the pod to where ever the camera is looking when pressed. In SB/in cockpit, it just locks it to where ever the pod happens to be looking. which might be straight down.

“Activate target point” creates a CCRP point and by extension, snaps the camera onto where ever the nose of your aircraft is pointing. Essentially snapping it straight forward. This can also be helpful for VID as you can look through camera to ID an aircraft and if you are within range and line it up right, even lock the camera to the target.

I’d also suggest using the new keybinds for swapping straight to the TIALD pod “Targeting Optics View” in the controls. I find most of the time where the TIALD pod resets to looking at the ground is when I had to cycle through the TV sight to it. Avoiding the TV sight on the AGMs massively reduced the number of resets I’ve encountered. You can set a bind for both “Targeting Optics view” and “cockpit view” and it will just toggle between them,

The testing platform Harrier II GR.7 by Gaijin.

Im kinda happy with that, Means britain for a change got to try some new tech before a lot of nations did. AGM-65Ds + TIALD I think was first on Gr7, Aim-9L and now Aim-9M are before most on the Gr7 and we’ll be one of the first if not the only with MAWS when it comes. (probably a few other things on it that were tested on it as well that i’ve forgotten)

Could have easily been a US AV-8B that did all that testing.

and spaghetti code with tons bug, like DMT.

Its a semi-shame we cant access DMT with TIALD pod. (Though personally i dont mind as it would now add another stepping stone for swapping between cockpit and pod)

But im actually finding the Gr7 reasonably bugless at the moment. Only bug i know about is the one i shared above

Thanks, very helpful.

On another note, with targeting pods in general, has anyone noticed that when you laser designate a target, drop your ordnance and then change course - 3/10 the laser designator will move off target and trash the shot even though the targeting pod is still locked on?

I’ve seen this on Su-39 with Vikhrs, Gr.7 with GBUs and just seen it in the M2K5F with AS30Ls. In all cases the targeting pod remained lock but the circle denoting the laser designator moved off target which should be impossible considering they originate from the same pod?

Would ideally need to see a video of it, but are you over-banking? T-Pods only have a limited field of view, if you are turning too far, then then pod wont stay locked on. If its just hte laser spot moving off the target, then i have yet to encounter that.

Yeah, as I say, T-pod stays locked on target but the laser designator circle moves off target. It doesn’t happen every time but now I have to be very gentle when pulling up for fear of moving it off target and trashing the shot. I’ll record it next time but it’s very annoying.

I haven’t played it in a while but from what I remember it is very prominent on the Su-39. You would have the pod locked on and it would stay locked but when you moved the nose or the aircraft you could see the trajectory of the Vikhr change and it would make you miss. Extremely annoying.

Hmmm Interesting. Yeah, definetly need a video, but probably save your CLOG next time it does it for a bug report. I’ll keep my eye out though for anything matching that behaviour as well and let you know

DMT and TIALD’s bug already fixed few months ago.
auto turn off laser quite annoying

Yeah, that can be annoying. though I get the impression it was intentional/“why would anyone want the laser on after weapons have been used” and not a bug annoyingly

I’m on console so can only record short clips but I’ll grab one and post it in here next time.

Ah, that might be another factor, could be a console related issue. PC here. But yeah, if you can that would be great.

Which console, ps4/5 you should be able to clip upto an hour.
