Yes, for older RWR’s the only way to tell the specific systems apart was to know what it should sound like, since you only had a series of band indicator, & and mode lights to go off otherwise.

The APR-39A for example of a threat library and a “synthetic map display” (no longer direct output of antenna) and a speak & spell chip to provide head up capability.
