BAe Harrier II (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion

Yeah, the timelines don’t coincide. We were already converting GR.5s to GR.7s by 1991, while TIALD was still in development.
TIALD weren’t in proper operational service until 1994 (Gulf War we were using prototypes on Tornado) by which time pretty much all of them were GR.7s, and Harrier integration wasn’t until after 1995 following Op. Deliberate Force where as you say, Harriers needed Jaguars to designate for them.

Interesting. So the GR.7 is the 90’s version?

GR.5 was in operational service 1988 to 1994, GR.7/7A 1991 to March 2010, GR.9/9A 2006 to December 2010.

Figured id share these, they aren’t anything special but i found a short talk about the T.10 while looking for some images of Danish Drakens

Pretty sure this is the premium one in game yeah?

Yeah the t10 is overperforming lol because it has wrong engine. It’s basically a t12 instead of t10

engine wise but everything else seems fine

Yeah. In every other respect thought its underperforming

ofc, it’s a Harrier

Is the engine supposed to be the same one as in the magazine i linked

Yeah, T-10s only had the Mk105 engine (same engine as the Gr7 does in-game)

T-12As had the Mk107 engine (what the T-10 currently has and what all the AV-8Bs have)

Gr7 and Gr9 (and T-12) did get the Mk107 too and is denoted by the added “A”. Which is why we’d want the GR9A eventually.

Best guess. Gaijin gave it the Mk107 so it would perform as closely as possible to the AV-8B(NA). So it either needs the Mk105 engine or be renamed the T12A

Yeah i have no info on the harriers so i have no idea in the specifics of whats wrong. Just figured id post something i came across while searching for Danish Drakens

I’ll take this over here.

Super heavy air superiority. I reckon maybe 4+4 might have been possible for the Sea Harrier FA3.

but Id doubt AMRAAM ever fitted ot the inner most pylon.

You play Sea Power? I’m making a mod on how most speculate it would have done operations but at least we can be sure that it would have a thousand CMs from all the BOL rails

I dont. And much like the GR7/9 having a max loadout of 6x AAMs but only 4x BOL. I doubt the FA3 would have gotten any additional BOL mountings. Might have still gotten the TERMA though

The later FA.3 definitely would have gotten TERMA as that was added to the GR.9 about when they started considering the FA.3

Why? it was only fit to GR4 and GR9… attack aircraft.

It would have become the EFT of the RN, the Royal Navy’s GR.7/9s were going to be upgraded and so they would still need a fleet striker, so the FA.3 would have cover that as well but not important. Point is the FA.3 would have been very potent if the people ruling had been aborted instead of being birthed

I mean the project went nowhere so making any predictions on what it might have been is fairly pointless. The Shar replacement was F-35B.

More like “replacement” as the F35Bs the RA/RN has are not enough for both, especially as the biggest force multiplier, the FGR.4 is facing possible forced retirement. Imo, they should have upgraded some GR.9s with Blue Fox, and upgraded them again in 2023 with Captor and Meteor so to still have a naval air force and the RAF just done their own thing

Since when?

They are in the process of upgrading them to keep them in service well into 2040. By which point, theyd probably be replaced by the Tempest
