Back after at least a year, conclusions

So I’ve taken a break from WT for about 14-16 months, if not more. Saw a few posts regarding the Pzh 2000 and F-18 and thought I’d play a few matches. This is I found:

  • Horrible teammates. They’re so useless and lacking in brains, I lose about 4 out of 6 matches, despite performing well and usually capturing at least 1 point. Usually they lemming towards one side and sit there like blind chickens or they die so fast it’s unbelievable. And they don’t offer any support. It’s worse than before.

  • The devs are still useless. How can it be that after so long, they still haven’t learned to make maps? It’s unbelievable. And they don’t fix the ones that already are in the game. Also, 3rd match in, found a cheater. Crosshair jumping all over the place really awful and yet always oneshotting people. And seems to know where everyone is.

  • The economy is still shit. Didn’t Gaijin promise big improvements? I guess they forgot all about that.

  • Air at top tier hasn’t changed one bit. Take off → radar at tws and max range → climb to 3-4K meters and about mach 1.2-1.3 _> select best target(s) → lob Fakour → back to base → either no kills or 3 kills, nothing in between.

PS: Special mention to the new SPAA. Really? 800K RP for an SPAA? LMAO. Can’t even use the first one without the second one.

EDIT: Apparently I cannot criticize Gaijin at all. That hasn’t changed as well.

I’m sitting at 40 million while buying things off sale and expert crewing vehicles…

Also how do you mistype 400,000 RP?

Which one!?!?!?!

None of them, he either mistyped or is ragebaiting.

how do you even make that much of money?

I play my favorite vehicles and I play them often.
I do it well enough to make profit on almost all of them.

Obviously Premium account helps with that.

I have friends who gets consistent 5 or more kills per match with a KDR of like 3 on every single vehicle they play and they only get around a measly 4k RP per match and little to nothing for SL, saying that the economy is perfectly fine is incredibly misleading and a blatant lie.

The economy is good but only for individuals who are willing to spend money on premium time, spending money on this game has worryingly become the norm to the point that if you have even the slightest interest in top tier whatsoever it’s physically impossible to grind it within a reasonable timeframe whilst being a F2P.

$40 a year for premium account is not a lot of money, and I say this as someone whose income is $14,000 a year, and $4200 of that is disposable income.
There are people that spend $40 on Coca Cola in a month.

Most of my friends are still in College or Six Form (UK equivalent to American High School), many War Thunder players are only aged between 16 to 18 and don’t have a permanent and reliable source of income. Spending a significant amount of money on this game isn’t a viable option.

There are people that spend $40 on Coca Cola in a month

The difference is one thing actually exists and the other doesn’t, premiums physically don’t exist and War Thunder as a whole is a blackhole when it comes to money. Many premiums are also £60 and if you’re a console player make that £80 and upwards of £90.

Most people play this game because of the vehicles and because there is no other option/competitor to War Thunder

But war thunder is not worse priced than most other live service f2p games. Sure the premium bonuses are a bit meager imo but 70€ for a plane is not worse than 50€ for a knife skin or 12 bucks a month for an mmo subscription

Both are predatory tactics used to extort as much money from a individual as possible, we’re also looking at cars in the future having in-built subscriptions so what’s your point? You’re comparing one evil to another, I personally rarely purchase games which actually cost money with very few exceptions.

We’re also on the verge of seeing normalised gambling in the War Thunder scene, it will only get much worse in the future when Gaijin starts to focus on monetary rather than player base in the yet to come.

Gaijin also updated their terms of service iirc, if you have an inactive account they reserve the right to delete it lmao

So what youre saying is you dont want to pay for games and devs and everyone working on a game should just work for free? Or do you want Spotify war thunder where you have an ad break every second game?

Glad other people realize that too.

Bro, if no one spent any money, there would be no game. You are arguing to bankrupt the company? You would have no game left to play then. Either they charge $60-$100 every year or two for expansions, or keep it “Free” To Play. Nothing in life is free. Your expectations are wildly out of line with how the world works.

Maybe you/they should focus on school to get a well paying job before playing video games then.

If you think $20 for half a year, $3.33 per month is a “significant amount” of money, again, maybe you should be focusing on school and/or a better job.

No, there is a difference between purchasing a game for £20 and having access to majority of the game and spending £80 on a individual pack like as found in War Thunder.

You’re confusing my personal behavioural pattern (not spending much on games) and my point of games having predatory tactics to force individuals to spend money.

Look at me in the face and tell me a pixel within a game is worth £80 and is entirely appropriate… 😂 You can’t

Then you are the product, for us to farm for our SL’s. You will stay at lower BRs longer, die more often, etc etc. Either you pay, or YOU are the product. Thank you for spending so much time allowing us to get more SL’s 👍

Yes the difference is that the 20€ game is usually not live service and much more importantly everyone has to pay said 20€. Ofc the pixel planes are not worth 80€ but if there are 4 people like you that dont want to (or cant) spend 20€ one guy has to pay 80€ to keep the servers running. The predatory monetization strategy of virtually any f2p game is set up so few paying players subsidize a lot of non paying players

Almost every and if not all content creators would agree that £80 for a singular pack is extremely disturbing and ridiculous.

I never said £20 was a significant amount of money, I said that people like my friends don’t have a significant money to spend on the game e.g. premium packs.

Maybe you/they should focus on school to get a well paying job before playing video games then

This is amongst the most idiotic message I’ve ever read on this forum thus far, most individuals who game in general are people aged around 18, others who exceed this age don’t have time to spend on games let alone money.

Yeah bro, get a j-j-job

Tell me you don’t live in the UK without telling me you don’t live in the UK. Individual situations change based on countries, it’s not as easy as you state it to be.

It is not predatory. Everyone can chose to spend or not. If they charged everyone to play, there would be less players, and thus less non paying players for us Premium Time buyers to farm. Either everyone pays, and you have less population, or you make it “free” to play and those who support the company by spending money get the benefits. It is a simple business transaction. Just like YouTube etc, you either pay to not see ads, or you spend your time watching ads. There are examples of “free” to play business models everywhere. This game is nothing special, and nothing unusual.
