(Ok, it’s not quite that much, but coffee and Pepsi adds up. I have a crippling caffeine addiction though so it’s medicinal)
Yes the difference is that the 20€ game is usually not live service and much more importantly everyone has to pay said 20€. Ofc the pixel planes are not worth 80€ but if there are 4 people like you that dont want to (or cant) spend 20€ one guy has to pay 80€ to keep the servers running
You do realise the “£20” statement was just an example? Why are you so fixated on this specific sum? My previous statement was that Gaijin employs unethical tactics to extract individuals for their money to further progress in this game.
An example of this is the ridiculously slow grind whilst F2P and using frustration to make people commit actions without thinking. How on earth are you defending Gaijin in this situation? At no point have I also said individuals shouldn’t spend money on games, what I said prior about me not spending money was a individual practice, not my ideology.
I agree that war thunder is not unusual but the speed of the grind in higher tiers, repair costs and stuff like crew levels is predatory, its not as bad as stuff like fifa packs but its still designed to frustrate and then offer a paid solution for the frustration

I’ve spent over £1000 on this game over more than a half a decade I’ve been playing so far, I was using others as a example as money isn’t a issue with me or my family thankfully. Stop using finance as a form to attack me because I said Gaijin uses unethical tactics lmao.
I used that sum because you used it? It doesnt matter what sum you take the core principe stays the same. Either you get a “everyone pays their share” monetization or you get a predatory “frustrated whales subsidize f2p players” monetization

Simply no, that is what developers make you want to think, we don’t need packs in-game to cost upwards of £80 (that translates to over 110 US Dollars). There has been calls for packs in-game to reduce in price to follow the further addition of packs and ranks in-game (aka function in parallel, RP costs and price reduction with the introduction of new ranks).
There should be a hard limit of £60 for individual vehicles, there will be a future when packs will eventually cost £100 and people like you will continue to defend Gaijin and their extremely predatory tactics.
Well, I still do not understand why you are getting so bent out of shape about a “free” to play game’s monetization options then 😂 I did honestly think you were one of those players who doesn’t want to spend a penny, and then just complains nonstop about how long the grind takes. You definitely have more of a “right” to speak on the subject (imo anyway) because you are/have supported the company with real money, like a stock holder has a say in how a company should be run.
Cheers bro 🍻
I mean you have 0 idea how expensive running the game is, neither do i so you saying how much something “should” cost is completely irrelevant. At the end of the day that one 80€ purchase subsidizes a couple players like your friends that cant or wont pay for the game. Would you like it better if Gaijin sold you every major update for 15€ or if war thunder was 10€ a month for everyone but the grind would be better?
Have you checked anything regarding the last update? If you did, you’d know the last SPAA is actually a folder with the missile carrier.
by playing a lot of premium vehicles
The game does not take all that much to run. The servers are trash, so they cannot be AWS top tier or something. With how little the game has evolved since 2019 or 2020 when I started in terms of maps, visuals etc. I’d say they keep hiring interns for miser salaries.
I guess you must be american with this terrible algebra. 2013 was not ~1.5 years ago.
dont get me wrong, i absolutely think the game is more than profitable but my point is that we dont know. For all we know they could be grossly overpaying their CEO or maybe they have to pay a ton of money to the russian mafia (government) for protection

War Thunder back in 2023 was rated as one of the best selling games on Steam and this was prior to any £80 packs in the Gaijin Store. This was also prior to the introduction of gambling on a large scale (both SL and GE) and rank 8 vehicles.

This is also excluding the actual revenue generated from the Gaijin Store and in-game purchases from War Thunder proper, it may just be me but I personally think War Thunder was doing perfectly fine prior to the addition of £80 packs…
Would you like it better if Gaijin sold you every major update for 15€ or if war thunder was 10€ a month for everyone but the grind would be better
What type of parasite has infected your brain to be conditioned to defend predatory tactics employed by Gaijin on games like War Thunder?
Spending such sums of money on games in general is ridiculous and especially when you take into account the individual time which is most likely hundreds of hours you have to input just to obtain the specific vehicle you want/like.
I’ll always praise the work of the developers as they’re not the ones making these ridiculous prices but all I’m saying is that Gaijin as a company and War Thunder as a game will continue to get worse and we as a community will continue to be blind of this fact.
you do realize that the time you put in to get the vehicle you like is playing the game right? Its not your day job to grind top tier and then the game begins. Im not defending any tactics but you dont seem to grasp the concept that game developers are companies and not charities so there needs to be some kind of monetization. Gaijins monetization is not different to any game developer whatsoever
So we established that money isn’t a major concern, or the lack there would be if we reduced the prices of premium by a small fraction. The issue is the fact you purchase a premium just to obtain the chance of grinding a tech tree of your choice to finally unlock a vehicle you like.
This is nothing short of ridiculous, if it was a option to purchase a individual vehicle regardless of premium status (such as a F-16C) then I wouldn’t have a issue with price. It’s the fact that you must purchase a premium, spend a significant amount of time and only then you’ll finally get the vehicle you desire.
No other game other than maybe WoT does this, Gaijin promotes inactivity in real life to attach individuals onto a screen to make the most of their premium time once their purchase a premium pack, then those individuals usually end up spending a unhealthy amount of time grinding and only then their money will be spent well “worth” it.
All I’m saying is prices should be reduced with the introduction of higher ranking premiums and new ranks introduced into the game and if not then prices for premiums will continue to rise (like as of now).
right over your head lol
You’ll notice you can’t research it, it’s there for you to be able to view it in your hangar.
It’s a spawnable vehicle and that has been explicitly stated dozens of times.
Meh idk pretty much every game that has a grind loop works like that and in every game the grind feels like work if you dont enjoy it. War thunder has always been a shitty experience if your target was to only play a high tier vehicle. Dont get me wrong i also think that the prices for top tier premiums are insane but in the scope of f2p games its not an outlier at all. My personal opinion is that the prices can stay as they are but the rewards for paying player should be way higher. I should be able to grind an air tree in a much more reasonable time if i pay 80€ for a premium plane
