B-52H and Tu-95M are fun and all but what is the point in playing them when they spawn at low altitude (5000 M / 16404 ft) give or take, While Fighters spawn in air.
some fighters are mixed in with the br such as:
F-104 Starfighter
F-106A Six Shooter
Mig-21s
and others…
the problem is they’re very fast and when they spawn in Air they can close the distance to the bomber quickly, and the bombers don’t have the time to bomb even one base.
Nobody wants fighters to spawn at AF but wouldn’t it be somewhat fair for them to spawn at slower speed and for bombers to increase the Altitude spawn to 8000-10000 M / 26246-32808 ft?
the only way you can get a base is by having a down tier to planes that aren’t as fast or by having a lucky match, which is a very RARE cuz average player in Air rb player is like a kid to candy.
idk just my opinion :/

cold war interceptors made to intercept cold war bombers are intercepting cold war bombers?

To be completely honest. It would change nothing.
Ive been using the Lightning the past few days.
Cold start on the AF. I can get airbourne in about 30 seconds. Takes a minute-ish to get up to Mach 1 at which point I stick my nose up at a 75+° angle and im at 30k ft within 20-30 seconds and ive only lost about 0.1 mach of speed, which I will quickly regain and be back up to supersonic in seconds and accelerating.
I will intercept a Strat bomber before they have even made it to the first set of bases.
(which I actually had in a match yesterday, I RTBed, and the last guy on their team had side climbed or something and was at 35k ft, near their bases, I was able to intercept before he dropped bombs)
Which is precisely what a QRA interceptor was designed to do.
The only meaningful changes I can think of is:
- major damage model improvements, so a single burst of 30mm ADEN fire doesnt turn a B-52 into confetti
- Overhauled PvE gameplay
- Reworked map design
but even then… They are always going to be niche aircraft

I have to say bombers like these may have a strange position in game. Ya you can bring them into air but I find these aircraft may have more of a home in naval strangely enough.

That they probably do. Though probably wont be usable in NRB for some time

I would imagine that trying to dodge top tier (Naval) AA in a plane that often weighs more than a Maus while also going low and fast enough to accurately drop bombs wouldn’t be much fun
(Not meant to be sarcastic at all, just agreeing)
With the changes to AA, the only thing youd need to worry about is anything with HE-VT and with that many bombs, you’d just carpet bomb and hope to hit. Same way Id fly a Lancaster
though I meant literally usable in NRB. I dont think the Canberras are for example (but let me double check that). They blocked some aircraft from naval.
Edit: Can use Canberra, I think it was the Buc S1 they blocked.

Fair enough, but these would also fight ships with much higher fire density and caliber anti airs than a Lancaster does
Not necessarily actually. Plenty of heavy cruisers that can put up a hell of a lot of fire, including HE-VT.
Though ships like Vanguard would be a big threat

I know people edit videos but some off the uses of these in top tier Naval USA / Russia is promising. WW2 flack does not care about your technology of Jammers and flairs but you are fast and high with the computer drop point your look fine. Remember your speed allows you to stay far away as well. Though these bombers some versions of them could drop sea mines (not the one in game). There is a home for strategic bombers in WarThunder its just the question of where.

True, I would also imagine that something like the USS Atlanta wouldn’t be too fun to fight in a Lancaster, even as light as that plane is for its size and payload
That is definetly the question… At the moment, they are very niche

Pick your targets smart drop from far, high and fast dodge as much flack before you get locked in by AA. But you do avoid most of the 40 and 20mm AA types so its a positive at avoiding that kind of fire.

Yeah it is.
We’ll have to wait and see, at the moment I think they can be taken into naval, but that might change.
Though I am also hoping we’ll see the introduction of more SAM ships, like the County-Class Destroyer soon

We’ll have to wait and see for the next BR change I think and see if it gets a naval BR increase

Until then if your a naval USA or Russia Line up go milk it. FYI this is how the USA envisioned the B-17 as a naval bomber it did not work IRL.

Nope… But might be time to dust of Vanguard to go shoot them down. It has some very good AA guns

Good luck and fair hunting.
